After buying a third-party remote that doesn't connect to my PC I want to buy a controller that is guaranteed to work, I would prefer the Wii Remote Plus controller however I hear that it's pretty hit or miss and may require additional setup to get working. Do the plus controllers work fine or are I better off getting the original controller and just using the Wii Motion Plus add-on when needed? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't see why you'd have any problems with a genuine wiimote plus as long as you set it up properly (maybe some bluetooth adapters don't support it?).
Plus, it's nearly impossible to find a genuine Wiimote without Motion Plus built-in nowadays, as they were discontinued way back in 2010 with the release of the Wii Remote Plus...

If you want to try your luck, go ahead. Chances of getting a fake disguised as genuine are very high, though...

Are fakes that common? And then, how would one recognise an actual one from a fake? I already have an original Wiimote, I'd just like to know, if possible, how to distinguish real ones from copies.
