Disable idle skipping also disabled the GPU synchronization. Be prepared for lots of crashes. But this sounds like your GPU is no in the high performance mode :/

@Irrelevant_pelican

Your specs are fine dude, don't waste money on upgrades you don't need.

I have an i7 3770K along with a ASUS R9 290 card and I can do Super Mario Galaxy 1080p just fine although I have overclocked a little.
If you can overclock your current CPU you'll be fine, it's actually quite easy if you read OC forums for your specific CPU.

Yes @admin89 I know my i7 3770K is a couple of years old but it's not that old to be labeled outdated nor is the i7 4770K. These CPU's still handles Dolphin dandy.
Outdated for me is Core2Duo or Core2Quad CPU's and older.

And remember, Dolphin version and settings is also crucial. It's no rocket science to configure Dolphin correctly and there's tooltips for most of the settings so it should be pretty straightforward.

If you still got problems running Super Mario Galaxy after overclocking then there is something wrong with your system or something else because your system should handle it!

Just my 2 cents.

As so many have already said,

There shouldn't be any problems running even 4xIR with that setup. Somehow I feel that there are some issues with either Dolphin's settings or background programs. As DatKid20 already said, it would help to get a screenshot of your task manager window, but also screens of Dolphin's settings tabs as they would maybe give an idea if there is something really wrong with them.

Thanks everyone for your help, I really appreciate it.  Smile

I've uploaded an album on imgur with the requested screenshots. Here's the full album: http://imgur.com/a/RSwjr

Here's each pic individually:

As for overclocking- I'm not entirely opposed to it, but to make a long story short, I've been given a gift to upgrade some computer parts. I figure I might as well take advantage and I might as well get something that may help Dolphin work better. But if I don't need to upgrade my CPU, then I could spend more of the gift money on an even better GPU, for newer PC games.

Edit: Woah, original pictures were super huge.... tried to make em smaller... They're still pretty big. <_<

@Maverick I didn't know the OP has already had that rig. I thought he was going to build new one with i7 4770k which is outdated compared to skylake

Yes, if you have the latest development revision (NOT the latest 5.0rc), then you should enable HLE audio. It really takes a load off your CPU, which is important for Galaxy especially because it requires EFB access from CPU, so higher resolutions will increase your CPU load.

When we asked for the task manager screenshot, we meant the 'processes' window rather than the 'performance' one, but this is quite helpful too. There isn't really anything off with your settings, so it's probably either you using the 5.0rc revision or some background program hogging all of your CPU time.

Also, you should maybe try switching OpenGL to Direct3D under Dolphin's graphics settings. There is the smallest of chances that you are actually running on your integrated graphics (instead of the GTX 770), and Direct3D lets you specify which GPU you want to use.

Well the specs are in his profile so I thought you knew?
Anyway yes, I agree that for building a new PC today Skylake is more appropriate however that is not the case and his specs are more then sufficient to be able to handle Super Mario Galaxy in 1080p.

What are you on about. They're last year's iterations of very very decent products. I've got crazy frames in SMG on pretty much identically the same setup. Some spreading misinformation.
