Setting up this Bluetooth Dongle

Hello all.

I'm trying to set up a bluetooth dongle that one of the users recommended for use with controllers and the Wii U Pro Controller.

My onboard Atheros bluetooth wasn't working properly with the Toshiba stack; I could never get it to detect the remote. One of the users on this forum recommended this bluetooth dongle, so I went ahead and bought 3 of them:

The dongles arrived earlier today. I have not been able to get Windows to detect any of them; I simply am told that it is an undetected USB device. I would like to set them up with Windows so that I can get their hardware ID's through the device manager and move on with the Toshiba Stack installation.

Any help would be appreciated. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium x64.

EDIT: I tested one of the three in a Vista computer and it read it as a Generic Bluetooth Radio. Still won't work on my usable PC, the Win7-64bit.

I may not be that helpful to you as I'm using Rocketfish and classic Wii controller, but, my computer also had an integrated Atheros adapter. (It's a laptop, after all.) I got rid of that in order to make way for my Rocketfish. Before the deletion, Rocketfish's USB Stack did show up on my computer in a discreet (/hidden) way alongside with the original Atheros (visible). Yet, Atheros was always going to be in the way until I uninstalled its Stack and Rocketfish's Stack. At one point between their deletions, I also had to delete the Generic Bluetooth Adapter from Bluetooth Radios.

Atheros is completely removed from your PC, right? Also, when you plug those Bluetooth dongles in, do their blue lights come on? (I have no experience with those under $2 dongles so I don't know if they officially light up or not.)

I did remove it and other bluetooth devices. This dongle does not have a light on it, unlike some similar or earlier versions.

Okay, I was able to get this working with the Toshiba stack, though in a way that is hard for me to explain. For anyone who sees this thread, to the best of my knowledge, this is what happened.

1) Uninstalled all of my preexisting Microsoft bluetooth drivers.
2) Installed the Toshiba stack; attempted to add the device when it asks you to plug in the USB dongle; failed, and clicked cancel.
3) The Toshiba software installed without adding drivers. I plugged the dongle in after the software was added, and it suddenly picked it up on its own and installed it through the Toshiba stack.

Seems like some kind of fluke to me, but maybe it will help the rest of you someday. Who can say.

Big Grin Yay. Good. Even if you got it working through a fluke way.
