I got one of the really cheap IR bars from ebay that has a USB cord on it and uses no batteries ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/351204451839?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT ) and it acts like it is just dead. Win does not detect anything after I plug it in, and IR lights do not light up when holding a remote next to it. Does this IR bar need to be modified to work with pc, or could it just be a bad bar?

Crucial 16gigs (8gigs x 2) DDR4-2400 RAM
Zotac GTX 970 4GB (ZT-90101-10P) gfx card
Wiimote with motionplus, Xbox One wireless contoller, cheap no-name USB bluetooth adap and IR bar

How are you checking if the IR lights are working?

I just tried using my camera phone and now I see 3 lights on each side of it lit up through the phone's LCD screen. However, I plug it into usb port and nothing happens, and also bluetooth doesnt detect anything. What am I doing wrong?

That's how it supposed to work. The only thing a sensor bar does is to have IR lights, it doesn't connect to Windows or Wii Remotes or anything else.

I see. I have not used one with win before so I wasnt sure. I figured it would connect to win somehow, and I could use IR remotes to control MCE like with other IR sensors. I have another IR sensor hooked up that detects IR remotes to control MCE (cable card). Will this interfere with the IR signal from the wii control?

The name sensor bar is misleading. The normal ones only contain IR emitters, which the IR sensor in the wiimote can read.

The Dolphinbar on the other hand is a sensor bar with an integrated bluetooth receiver, that translates the bluetooth signals from wiimotes directly into usb signals, which is why it works without bluetooth drivers.

The sensor bar will only interact with IR sensors, if you point an IR sensor(like the wiimote) at it. I think the normal way is the other way around, so it shouldn't interfere.

Thanks for the replies! I couldnt get it working before because I had to turn the sensitivity way down. Now I can see the cursor moving around. Are there better performing bars out there or are they all pretty much the same? The cursor movement is pretty laggy and not very stable.
