I was looking for these settings according to the link provided above (the official TP thread):
Optimize Quantiziers: Enabled
Dynamic Recompilation: Enabled
Unfortunately I'm not really able to locate either of these options in the configuration windows (interface tab). Has it got something with my version of Dolphin to do or am I just looking in the completely wrong direction?
*edit: doubled the FPS by setting the external frame buffer to virtual, but it's still running a wee bit too slow.
Yes, your version of Dolphin is newer than the version mentioned in the thread I linked to (that info is from around 2009). Dolphin has changed, so some of the options discussed are obsolete and removed.
I have no idea what Optimize Quantiziers is/was, but Dynamic Recompilation should be comparable to the JIT recompiler and the JITIL experimental recompiler. You should have the JIT one set by default; JITIL may provide some speed, or slow it down, or do nothing in terms of performance. Give both a try and see how they run.
Lastly, leave EFB Copies set to RAM and the External Frame Buffer to Virtual, but try changing the rest to match these speed settings. Settings alone won't guarantee huge speed boosts, though. If those speed settings don't help, you'll probably have to get faster hardware.
