Scarface: The World Is Yours - Opening section before main menu runs extremely slowly

Hi all,

I've been importing my games into Dolphin and so far, the vast majority of them run flawlessly. The only one I seem to have an issue with is Scarface: The World is Yours (PAL Wii version). When I start the emulation, it sits on a black screen for a long time after compiling shaders (I'd say at least 2 minutes) before showing "Licensed by Nintendo" - then this stays on screen for around the same time again before the Wiimote info screen. It will eventually get to the main menu, but it takes multiple minutes to do so. Strangely, after it reaches the menu, everything is fine and the game runs at a good speed when in-game.

The FPS indicator is showing 60fps throughout this slow intro time, so it doesn't appear to be just slow emulation. I assume I'm missing a setting somewhere that will fix it. I found this thread about the same issue which recommends using external framebuffer; I've tried multiple combinations of settings in the game ini (XFB true / realXFB true, XFB true / realXFB false, XFB false), but none of those seemed to change the issue when starting the game.

I've also verified the partition integrity in Dolphin which reported no issues, and I tried compressing to .gcz also, but the issue remained with the compressed file.

I've tried Dolphin 5.0 stable, 5800 development version and the latest 6020 version, and the issue appears to be the same across all of them.

Does anyone know what else I can try to fix this? Thanks Smile

I think the issue is that the game spins the GPU as fast as possible and Dolphin has bad GPU timings. Could also be disc timings. I don't have the game to test it myself.
