Saving progress on Netplay

So my friends and I managed to get Netplay to work by not having a Memory Card "slotted". As such games will show a pop-up saying that there is no memory card inserted. Is it possible to still save game progress with this Netplay setup?

If you want to both save and load progress, your only option is to have a memory card inserted.

You need to synchronize memory cards. Trade a memory card, then both of you use that memory card, and it should work.

We tried that, but my friend would get a message saying the card was corrupted

Then you're doing something wrong, I played through Tales of Symphonia on netplay... it should work fine.
