Saving in-game error

So I'm playing Pokemon and saving in-game worked before up until I accidentally clicked on Emulation-Select State Slot and clicked on the first one... Now I can't save in-game anymore. I was trying to save instead but it was late and I was tired so I didn't really notice and I can't seem to deselect the slot I chose, there's a bullet to the left that shows I selected it but how do I deselect it?Also, would that even fix it?
