Saves not working

I have tried saves from both this site and wiisave.com but cannot get the saves to work for SSBB or any other wii game. I have followed the "post your saves here" tutorial but still does not work. Brawl would load without the characters and when I tried to import each, at a time, .bin file only to get an error message of either "failed to read header" or "not a wii save file or read failure for file header size 2d568b52". THe solution is probably simple but I've been at this all day, please help.
