Save States from one version to another?

So, I played ToS, got pretty far and had to take a break TWO YEARS AGO.

Now I want to start from my save state. I don't know which dolphin version I had used, but I tried many many many to no AVAIL.

Is there any way from me to resume from that save state?

I remember the Icon for dolphin was mario related and I think it was 3.0 or 3.5, not sure.

Any ideas? Is there any way I can find out which version I had used from the savestate?

TL;DR Save state from old dolphin version doesn't load on any of the newer ones.
