Save States from Gamepad

I typically game far away from my mouse and keyboard, using a wireless gamepad, typically an XBox One controller. I've always been a subscriber to the habit of saving frequently (especially in those Bethesda games!). While my confidence in the programming reliability of Dolphin to handle my in-game saves is not an issue, something I do regularly, I will always prefer to operate using save states for my own reasons. Now, I could just change my habits and either get up every time I want to save to a save state, or just save to them less often. Or I could even go dig out the old wireless Logitech keyboard/trackpad I left at work months ago that I hate to use, and just add more hardware to my setup. However, it's 2017, come on! Can't I just map a couple keyboard buttons to my controller?

So my question is this. How, if at all, can I add an "F1" and a "Shift" button to my controller? Or, if there's another way of accomplishing my goal, how can I save to and load from a save state using my controller?

Quick search did not reveal any related posts. Feel free to point me in the right direction if I didn't search well enough. If that's the case, I know, shame on me for not scouring the forums long enough (I got you covered, fam).

You don't even need to do that.

Options > Hotkey Settings > find the "Save to state slot x" > Right click on the field > select your controller from the drop down menu > Set a button (or button combo) to do it

I have my xbox one controller set to L2 + L3 = load state and R2 + R3 = save state

In all the years I've used Dolphin and other emulators, I've never had a need to use hotkeys. I completely forgot they were even a thing! Thank you!

I was searching that, too. Thank You.
BTW, can i save using wiimotes? And if yes, what combination buttons do you recommend to save/load state with wiimote + nunchuck?
My specs:
Operating System: Windows 10 x64
Processor/CPU: intel I7 3770 3.4 Ghz
Video Card/GPU: Nvidia GeForce 1060 6GB
Memory/RAM: 16 GB
Dolphin Revision Currently Using: 5.0-xxxx X64 (always the latest) and the latest Ishiiruka for custom textures.

I'm still learning english. Please, be patient with me. And, if i make a mistake, please correct me, i will learn a lot this way!  Big Grin

The only way to do it is to set things up so that you are controlling an emulated Wii Remote using a physical Wii Remote somehow, and I really wouldn't recommend that.
