Save State - Cancel Reset

Hi all, weird question--this seemed like the closest subforum that applied to what I'm looking for.

Long story short, due to a hotkey misconfiguration, my reset and save state keys were bound to the same key. The end result is a GameCube save state that plays for about half a second and resets promptly. I don't know a lot about the internals of GameCube hardware or Dolphin save states, but is it theoretically possible to edit a save state to undo the "reset button bit"? Or would an AR code somehow be able to disable the reset from going through? Perhaps the reset is already committed, though (I'm guessing it's a race for "save state" and "reset"). No big deal, but it would be cool if I could salvage this state. Any information is appreciated.

Thanks,
AKD

Depending on how the timing worked out at the time the savestate was created, it might be possible to edit out the reset from the savestate. Upload the savestate and I'll see if I can do anything with it. No guarantees, though.

It seems like the act of pressing down the reset button happened before the savestate was created, so I wasn't able to edit that out of the savestate. However, the act of releasing the reset button (which Dolphin does half a second after pressing the button down) hadn't happened yet, so I was able to edit that out. I believe games don't reset until you release the reset button, so you might be able to play the game with the reset button held down permanently. If you do manage to continue playing the game from this edited savestate, I would suggest making an in-game save as soon as possible and then rebooting the emulated console to make the reset button not be pressed anymore. I don't have Phantasy Star Online, so I haven't been able to test whether the edited savestate works, but give it a try: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zdpw2jxy6s81vw...ed.7z?dl=1

It worked perfectly, thanks for going above and beyond. That is a neat piece of information on how the reset switch is implemented.

I messed up and did not back up the memory card before resetting the game, which writes to the memory card, so the in-game save is denied by PSO's anti-tampering/duplication logic. However, I'm able to examine exactly what I had and I can work with that.
