Also - has the software been updated enough to the point that I don't have to constantly tinker with settings to get everything to run optimally? I just want to add my enhancements (resolution and aa) and play with glee!

And how do I get the pretty banners back? My super mario galaxy 2 is now labled as super mario galaxy more Sad

If you deleted the Wii folder and the GC memory card .raw files, then you lost all your saves.
Run the game past the loading screens, and then close and reopen Dolphin, and the games will reload and you should get banners back.

As for tinkering, each game is different, soundless you find a minimum that fits all games, then you have to tinker to maximize each game.
