My save files were converted into notepad documents somehow. Is there any way to reverse this or do I need to start over?

Wait... What? What's the file type? Post a screenshot. Just because you set notepad as the default viewer for .bin files doesn't mean they've become notepad documents!
Main Laptop:
Dell XPS 17
i7 2720QM @ 2.2GHz
8GB DDR3 RAM
Nvidia GeForce GT 555M
Windows 7 64-bit

you messed up the file associations, as long as you are not modifying the files and saving them the icon is fine

what extension savefiles did this happen to? most do not have any file associations.

fixing the file associations varies between operating systems

When I start up my game it acts as if no memory card data is there.
Can you see that image? Can't seem to add an attachment. Confused

AFAIK the files were simply being moved around, in order to go from one to the other and vice versa.

I don't fully understand what you mean, semi-computer retarded. They are RAW files (.raw)
