Just picked up a discounted Samsung Galaxy View and I am hoping to test out dolphin soon. I think I've gathered that I will need to get one of the dolphin bars but that everything else should/may work. The CPU is 64bit so I guess thats a good start.

Has anyone used this tablet? It'd be a pretty fun table-top option if it ends up working well enough. I'll update with status once I get a chance to test it out.

Please don't buy any accessories until you've verified that this is device is 64 bit for real. Most mobiles with a 64 bit CPU are shipped with 32 bit Android, especially the older ones. As the Galaxy View is shipped with Android 5.1, I highly doubt it will run dolphin at all. It has A53 CPUs @ 1.6 GHz, which is the lower end of performance.

I'm sorry for ruining your hopes, but I'm very looking forward to your update, especially about it being 64 bit or not.

Edit: The more technical answer: Please check if the "arm64-v8a" ABI is supported, eg within AIDA64. If not, please complain at your reseller/Samsung. I guess most of them just don't bother with 64 bit because they see no need for it.

Thanks for the heads up. I will look into android version. I am also running dolphin with much success on my laptop so won't be devastating if it doesnt work. Need to figure out a USB sensor bar to buy eventually, if not dolphinbar, as the wireless bar I have is too large to use with laptop comfortably. General goal is to replicate switch-like experience as I prefer the old Wii games, especially with the improved graphics.

According to AnTuTu I am currently running 32bit android 5.1 on the 64bit proc, 8 core arm v7 (VFPv4NEON) ARM Cortex-A53, 1600Mhz.

I'll have to play around with it more later and see if possible to install 64bit android. Do you know where I could easily find this out?

Keep in mind that a DolphinBar is the only way to connect Wii Remotes to Dolphin on Android. Regular sensor bars don't provide any Bluetooth functionality (since they're just sensor bars), and the device's built-in Bluetooth won't work the way Dolphin requires.

Heh, you can compile Android on your own if your bootloader is unlocked. But you'll have a hard time with all drivers, especially as there is a good chance that a few drivers aren't available at all for 64 bit for this device. So you need to build your android rom yourself, and the kernel, and you need to write a few drivers yourself.

tl;dr: no way to get 64 bit android on this device.

I'm more wondering if any of the custom ROMs currently available are 64bit, although I'm guessing not. ah well only marginally bigger than laptop.

Would've been better to buy the item after looking up if it's 32-bit or 64-bit. I doubt that there would be a way to install 64bit android on your device.
