They all play smooth for the first five to ten minutes and then stutter repeatedly. The 8+ does not get very warm, but throttles none the less.
Games tested as example: Mario Kart, Mario Sunshine, Mortal Kombat, Smash Brothers, Soul Calibur 2, Smugglers Run, ATV 2, Hot Pursuit, Burnout Racing 2, FZero, Crash Racing.
They play impressively for the 5 to ten minutes, but that is about it.
Only some earlier versions of Dolphin 5 play Mario Kart without a dark screen, but speed was no better or worse with newer versions.
Would be cool if the throttling did not happen. Also would be cool if the enhancement and hack options were not blank with white screen, since have to test changes using a text editor in the ini file.
So..
If you mess with window/animation/transition scales in developer options, you wont be able to change the settings in hack and enhancement, itll just be blank as you stated.
I get stuttering here and there, but I wouldnt call it throttling... yet. There will be stuttering in many games, even within the first few seconds, I doubt the phone throttles that quickly. A remedy is to lock and unlock your phone, I do this in the beginning to get the best results. This is very likely has to do with the phone, and not the emulator itself. Newer versions of Dolphin seem to run slower.
From my testing, messing with the Emulated Clock Speed helps a ton.
The videos I post are approx 15 min long. You can see the version and exact settings I use. Nothing misleading here..not sure what else I can show(maybe another 15 min?). I do use Game Launcher and Game Tuner, with the "High Performance" Setting on both. I didnt notice a difference without it, probably just eating up RAM, either way - many of these games play very well.
Here's Mario Kart Double Dash, an entire cup played.

Also, Xiamoi IMO runs basically the same as the s8. Unless Xiaomis are rooted, then you can mess with CPU governors and possibly increase performance. But out of the box, its the same crap/processor/gpu.
Zelda WW: My S8 runs better here, but Im sure if he used similar settings, he can get better performance.
