Edit: to install the Toshiba stack on a P8P67 motherboard with onboard Bluetooth, I first installed ASUS's Bluetooth suite. Then, I got the hardware ID and mostly followed the guide at this post. When it prompted me to connect the controller, Windows asked to install a driver from an unknown source or whatever. I clicked continue, the prompt went away without me clicking OK, and the drivers began to install. It's working now.

make sure the Hardware ID is in the Toshiba tosrfusb.inf driver file, if not you have to put it manually in order to detected the USB dongle.
Wait, then cant I just add my current usb dongle to the inf driver file?
yes. With the USB dongle plugged in, go to device manager > right click the BT dongle and properties > then details and from the drop down select Hardware Ids and copy the last line which should look like this: USB\VID_0CF3&PID_3002, of course it will be different yours.
Copy that into a notepad and unplug the USB dongle and also make sure to uninstall it with delete software drivers as well. Reinstall Toshiba Stack and when it comes to the screen to plug-in the device go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Toshiba\Bluetooth Toshiba Stack\Drivers\tosrfusb directory and open the tosrfusb.inf file with notepad. There are three lines where you have to add, 2 which are the same and the last one which gives the bluetooth a name. I attached my .inf file so you can look at it. Once you have done the edit, save it as .inf and All files extension not .Text on another place. Copy the file and overwrite it with the one on that directory from above. Click okay and plug in the USB dongle quickly and voila ! You will have a working Toshiba BT stack for your usb dongle.
I just want you to know I've been a member of countless forums for 10 years, and never have I received such a perfect, articulate, and informative response like yours. What you told me worked PERFECTLY and now my TR wiimote is up and running. Thank you SO SO much for actually taking time out of your life to go into step by step detail for me. I really appreciate it.

Thank you, but it is not clear which lines to edit in the file. Can you quote some line numbers in your file? Or add a glaring comment of what to do where? Also, how did you find this in the first place? Seems like something pretty difficult to just stumble upon. Thanks again.

I had a similar problem with Windows 8. My issue was Windows 8 by default won't allow installation or even prompt to install an unsigned driver which is what the Toshiba driver becomes once you modify the .int file. My workaround was follow this guide http://www.craftedge.com/tutorials/driver_install_windows8/driver_install_win8.html to allow Windows 8 to install unsigned drivers. I believe Windows 7 may have a similar issue but I have not experienced this so possibly Google a guide for the same thing on Windows 7. Hope this helps.

Hey guys, a little frustrated-

I just got a black official wiimote with motionplus inside and am trying to get it to work on windows 8. I have a targus bluetooth dongle and an older wiimote worked just fine with it; however this one does not, it's listed as a -TR. Anyways, the problem is that the Toshiba stack software installation always makes my computer freeze after it asks me to plug the device in. So that's a no go, is there any other way to do this? Is there no other stack that will work? Thanks

Edit: Went through all the steps even tried to go into the mode where windows allows unsigned drivers. No luck.

Edit 2: After scrounging the toshiba forums I came to a very sad realization, everyone who has had my issue has either been referred to other forums, got stalled with pointless generic suggestions/questions or their thread ended before any actual solution was discovered. I have never in my life encountered drivers as bad as Toshiba's Bluetooth Stack, I cannot recall the last time an installation of any sort has made my computer hang. This terrible piece of bugged software has caused me 2 BSODs, and I will avoid it like the plague. Surely there has to be an alternative, this stack is a dud in many cases and unfortunately cannot be considered a universal solution Sad MS stack on the other hand works great, the only problem is that after I pair it to dolphin the remote doesn't stop flashing

Only toshiba stack will work with a TR wiimote, are you using the latest version with the modded inf relative to your BT adapter? Windows 8 is a pain with unsigned drivers which is one of the reasons I have avoided it so far.

Tried every version from 7 to 9.10, they all have this same issue. When I looked it up many of the people who also had it were not on windows 8. I tried turning off signed driver protection and it still happens, it happens even in safe mode, whatever it has to do with it might not be OS specific.

Does the installation freeze even if the BT is not plugged in? I assume you tried combinations of making sure the MS BT is not installed by blocking installation / trying with the adapter already plugged in and then copying in the inf for example?

Yep here is what I did yesterday:

Uninstalled drivers, made sure to remove it from device manager also
Unplugged
Restarted in unsigned driver mode
Started installation
When it asked for the card I first modified the inf and then plugged the card in
Tried Ok
Hang

Tried to do all the same but click cancel
Managed to get past install but it wants to reinstall on next startup
Pressing ok always makes it hang

So it's basically inescapable, it will hang if I press okay, actually it might even hang if I don't, that's a crapshoot.

Oh I also did try just leaving it plugged in and having the installation of the MS stack blocked, same thing. It seems to just be that the Toshiba drivers cause my system to hang, it has nothing to do with the dongle itself it seems.

Edit: Tried reinstalling windows still the same behavior.

This is what I have: http://www.targus.com/us/productdetail.aspx?sku=acb10us

Works fine with older wiimotes, even great but it doesn't play with Toshiba software. Anyone have suggestions for an ultra cheap dongle that likes toshiba? Thanks

Edit 2: Somehow got Toshiba 9.10 drivers loaded however it only successfully loaded ontop of the Targus drivers, the stack fails to recognize the Targus Bluetooth.
