Hey guys,

I got Dolphin (4.0) recently pretty awesome. but I'm quite a newbie..

I'm playing on my macbook with OS yosemite 10.10.1

BUT, I figured playing with a wii controller would make it much more awesome.
so I went to the store and picked up this ''WII remote plus'' controller.

According to dolphins wiki page it should be a bit more work, but I should be able to use it.

it says by pairing the device first.
(the manual is made for an older OS version but I guess) by using the red sync button on the back.

--This worked fine it shows connected in the Bluetooth menu

after that I used the regular 1+2 refresh method in Dolphin...

--no response.. it fails to connect to Dolphin..

so I tried disconnecting it from bluetooth and then using either the 1+2 method or the sync button in dolphin.

then I tried connecting it with the 1+2 to my mac and then the red button in dolphin

--still no response.. the lights either keep blinking or all of them turn black.

*frustration*

my thought was that it needs a sensor bar? but I figured it doesn't need a IR source to connect to dolphin does it?

Anyway I messed around with the buttons a lot and I have visited several sites and videos to help.. but it didn't seem to help and I'm pretty stuck... if someone could help me that'd be great Smile

Technically, we don't support 4.0 here, just 4.0.2 and 4.0-xxxx, so you'll have to build one of these. The latest dev build should be much better than 4.0 in basically every way, though.

You're right to think you don't need a sensor bar to connect a Wiimote, though. As far as I'm aware, TR wiimotes just work like any other under OSX, but I can't remember which bluetooth things are Windows only. If you have continuous scanning as an option (I don't think it's in 4.0 for any OS, though) try turning that on, and just holding 1+2 without the wiimote being paired through your regular bluetooth stack.

I have the same config as you.

First of all, turn OSX Bluetooth ON. Then open Dolphin's Controller preferences, select "Real Wiimote" as the first Controller (or whichever port you like).

1) Press the RED Sync button on the back of your TR Wiimote.
2) Press "Refresh" on Dolphin's "Real Wiimotes" section of the Controller preferences repeatedly every 1 - 2 seconds.
3) At some point it will seem that Dolphin is trying to Sync with your Wiimote, but this step does not always work straightaway.
4) If your Wiimote has not vibrated, press the Bluetooth icon on your Mac's status bar and press "Disconnect" from the TR Wiimote entry.

Repeat steps 1 through 4 until your Wiimote vibrates and the "1" indicator on the Wiimote is ON.

I usually get to Sync my TR Wiimote on the 2nd or 3rd try of the steps above.
I really hope this works for everybody, despite that everyone is saying that there's a big problem with TR Wiimotes.

Here's a video proof on YouTube for this method: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BuqYLx5A_9M&feature=youtu.be

Yosemite seems to have changed bluetooth connectivity in OSX. On my Yosemite MacBook Pro, I haven't had much luck with -TR or non-TR wiimotes. I've gotten them to connect, but not reliably. Obscene stubbornness, ala the dkoliris suggestion above, can make it work, and I have, but it's a paaaaaain. And the DolphinBar doesn't provide any relief either; mode 4 doesn't connect with Dolphin at all! Sorry that I don't have better news. Sad

The hidapi branch that flacs is working on will hopefully address this. I am going to be watching it very closely to see if it improves the situation on Yosemite. It certainly could use it!
