So will this processor be able to run these games using the OpenGL Backend on Linux, or were your answers just sort of general (sorry if I sound rude)?

My answer is based on Dolphin benchmark thread . But real life performance rely on your experience (tweak settings , optimize your OS , don't install any software that interfere Dolphin performance)
A few months ago , a A10 5700 user tested Dolphin : most games run really slow , his Dolphin Benchmark result is similar to A6 3400M @ 2.4GHz (this is not possible but it does happen with him)

I just checked an installation of Dolphin, and there is one option besides the OpenGL backend: something labelled "Software Renderer." I have never seen this anywhere else, and have no idea what it is. So I'm now mainly wondering what it is, whether it works, and how it performs.

Software renderer is only used for testing purposes . It is unbearably slow even on the fastest PC

Well, thanks for all your help and advice! I certainly am glad to hear that a $260 build can produce marginally acceptable performance. Smile

Thank you for your time,
Tallix
