Rune Factory Frontier control problems.

I tried both wiimote and classic controllers for the game, but no matter what, I can't get pass the first cut scene where you meet the old nun. The text scroll just stopped responding. Before this scene, it was possible to scroll the text. Am I doing something wrong? I've seen people take screens past this area before. I don't have blue tooth, so not real Wiimote, but the game supports classic controller anyway.
