A new article has been published on the Dolphin blog - Rodea: The Sky Soldier Releases for Wii U, 3DS and... Wii?

JMC47 hunted for the dual release just to get one of the Wii releases, and naturally, compared it with the Wii U version!

Feel free to discuss the article on this thread.

True opinion time that I kept out of the article because it felt unnecessary:

I think the Wii U version is uninspired, and more or less does things to do them. The Wii version is fun. It doesn't have all the fluff/customization that bogs down the Wii U release. I don't know if it's worth searching out the game, but, if you're a fan of nights or Sonic, you'll probably enjoy the Wii version of the game.

It's amazing (and strange) that they put more effort into a last-gen release of a next-gen game, rather than it being the other way around. What's also strange is that the next-gen version has WORSE graphics than the last-gen version. (I understand they were merely porting the 3DS port, but still, couldn't they have took some time to upgrade the textures and models?)

At first, I was wondering why Rodea would be packaged with the Wii and Wii U versions, but now, the reason why is all clear to me. It was initially a Wii-only game, but NIS sat on it for years, decided to make a half-assed 3DS port, ported that port to the Wii U and somehow made it even worse, and then called it a day.
Was gonna call my friends and get 'em all together
I was gonna go and start a band
But everything I wanna do, it's already been done
Why would I wanna go and do it again?

Port of the port? WOW

I keep wondering why they just not began a new Wii U port based on Wii version? More work? Surely, but would probably be better than what they delivered here...

Can we see a picture of the cat that made dumping the game a lot harder? Seems like it deserves a pic in the article too, lol.

Really neat article, thanks. for posting it. I wonder why they ported the 3DS version. The touch screen controls, maybe?

I would bet its the controls as you said since they are more familiar between 3DS and Wii U, Wii has completely different controls. It was clearly a rushed port, personally i am amazed that they picked to include the wii version too though.

FWIW, I don't think NIS is the one who did the porting.

Well either way, you get the point. Whether it was NIS or not, they still did a shit job with the Wii U port.

HAHA, seems to prove how much No body actually cares about the WiiU. Not using at least the Wii versions assets is just a puzzle we will probably never be able to figure out.
