Hello! I'm working on a Rocket League demake for GameCube. I thought I'd share in case anyone wants to test it out in Dolphin or on real hardware.

Here is a gameplay video captured in Dolphin 5.0
https://youtu.be/nZ6u72IWQHQ

You can download the .dol file from the github page:
https://github.com/mholtkamp/retro-league/releases/tag/0.1

This project started as a sample game for testing my game engine. I probably won't update it too much in the future, besides adding network gameplay, but the engine and game code will be open sourced in the future on that same github repo. And at that point I'd be very open to taking any contributions, or having someone fork it into something much more gooder!

Cheers!

Wow, this is really neat! I don't often see GameCube homebrew, especially 3D stuff. This is pretty impressive stuff, so thanks for sharing!

When you mentioned network gameplay, are you talking about support for the Broadband Adapter? Or did you have Dolphin's netplay in mind (which on real hardware is just regular split-screen multiplayer)? Either one would be fascinating to see. Good luck!

The game ran full speed 60 FPS even on my oldest laptop which is an i3-3217U.
Amazing work, I loved it! Cool
Hopefully, Wiimote and nunchuck support is added soon.

Also, can you please add an option in-game to know what the different buttons do? Or maybe attach a manual as PDF?

Yes I mean using the broadband adapter. After I get the engine/game ported over to a few other platforms (3DS/PSP/Wii) I'll be adding a network layer to the engine. The only problem is that I don't have a broadband adapter Smile  but I'll worry about that once I have networking up and running on the other consoles. And unfortunately I don't think I'll take the time to make the netcode good with clientside prediction and whatnot. I will probably choose to give clients authoritative control over their own cars, and have the host game control everything else (ball physics simulation, goal scoring, demolition, boost pickups, etc). Usually the big downside with this strategy is that cheating is much easier but I'm not too worried about it in this case hehe.

Yea good point! I'll add a menu option to view the controls before the multiplayer update. And thanks for testing it out! I'm glad it ran well.

How do I pause in between a match?
If there is no such option, then do consider adding it in the next release.
