Yes, much faster... Even with loading textures to RAM I get these slight hiccups (like I said, they're tiny, but I always notice them).
You'll read about them pretty much in all custom texture threads around here because sooner or later most projects go over to DDS (or offer both).
It's easy to convert PNG to DDS with Bighead's tool: https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-unofficial-custom-texture-tool-ps-v3-0
Just remember not to delete your PNG originals because DDS is a lossy format.

Still, I like how this looks so far! Rhythm Heaven Fever is one of my favorite games for the original Wii, and one of the few that I can play on Dolphin, since it doesn't require motion control. (I don't have the equipment needed to use motion sensing on my computer)

See the edges? [Image: aadef3a6e8.png]

Yeah, I know. What I was saying, was that HD texture projects usually just trace over the original textures.
Was gonna call my friends and get 'em all together
I was gonna go and start a band
But everything I wanna do, it's already been done
Why would I wanna go and do it again?

They always appear in the same spots (like on the main menu just before the girl pops up or in Double Date just after kicking the (American) football). I've got a fast machine including an SSD, so I guess it's because of some textures being too large to fit into the bandwidth the GPU offers. Anyway, converting the textures to DDS format fixes this issue with pretty much no loss in quality (actually, those rough edges might actually profit if anything).
But I can just convert them myself; just saying maybe you might want to offer packs in both formats when you're all done Smile

Mind if you upload the DDS files, i've been busy with something else atm.

Aye, I hope I'll remember to do this next week. Right now I'm having some issues with my PC and only next week will I have the time to fix stuff (and install Win10 while I'm at it).

So I did forget about this -_-
Now I got them converted and here is the pack in DDS format Smile
These are for those annoyed by some little stutters the PNG files produce because of their size. Quality difference should be almost invisible (except in direct comparison maybe).

I don't know how long that file hoster keeps stuff up. If anyone wants to put it up someplace else, be my guest.

Oh, and just for the record: I just got a 'superb' metal in all levels Big Grin

Nice work on the texture pack, OP. It definitely makes a difference in quality, everything is just so much clearer. However, I did notice a couple of problems. The main one that is a bit concerning happens during the 'Remix" stages. When switching from one game to another, there is a noticeable spike of lag. While this may not be a problem in other games, but in Rhythm Heaven any lag is very costly. I did notice the DDS version of the Texture Pack has less lag than the PNG version, but it is still there. This lag has actually thrown me off on a couple of these stages, ruining my chances of getting a Superb. Now I don't know if this project is abandoned, or if this problem is even fixable. However, I thought I'd just let you all know of this.

Hey peeps

Yes, the project is still alive. I've been cleaning a bit of the textures and made DDS textures for it so i hope the lags are gonna be less(In my case, its almost the same)
To get rid of the lags you're gonna need a PC with at least 8 GB RAM. What you need to do is get into the Graphics option of Dolphin, then go to Advanced and enable Prefetch Custom Textures, and again, you NEED 8 GB RAM to be able to do that, don't try it with 4 GB RAM because it won't work.

Anyways, the v1.01 of the textures are in the OP.

Changelog:
Code:
Better medal icon shadows
Some small font changes
Some texture changes
DDS and PNG texture packs

There's still work to be done on the textures so the project is gonna be still active.
If you got any questions regarding the status of the project or any other question about the project then DM me or @ me on Twitter.

Hey, it seems the download links were taken down, for some reason. Could anyone please mirror the texture pack?
