I am wondering if this controllers L and R buttons are simply buttons with no analog function at all. I currently have both L, R, L analog, and R analog all set to the respective buttons. However, the 'light press' analog is never activated unless threshold is at 100. The windows USB gamepad config also only recognizes L and R as buttons with no analog range at all.

So am I stuck with the shoulder buttons being pure digital?

EDIT: I have disassembled the controller and can definitely confirm that their are analog sliders inside for both the L and R button.

I'm not an expert on GameCube controller adapters, but there may or may not be a driver or firmware update you could apply that enables the analog shoulder buttons – try Googling around. I know that the Mayflash adapter supports them, if you feel the need to buy another adapter.

I design GC adapters and have for the better of 7 years. I'm willing to wager pauldacheez is 100% correct here. The adapter you have just didnt read far enough to understand that L and R also have pressure data. Its a very very common mistake. If it takes driver then maybe you will get lucky finding an update but using a driver for a basic HID is sort of pointless. Mayflash had this error in there earlier development and have since patched the driver. My adapters do not use drivers and the firmware can be updated directly should I need to make a fix like that.

I wish their were drivers. They like to say their controller is 100% plug and play and that clearly isn't the case. I have searched for a website from retrolink and apparently all that exists is some sort of half way point for their distributor with no drivers listed.

Their is no adapter, the controller is USB based. Do you think their may be some sort of generic driver that may exist?

The generic driver comes pre-installed with Windows. Your best bet is to contact Retrolink.

Looks like I confused this as a controller adapter. So no driver is going to help you. Looks like Retrolink was smart enough to actually go firmware only with HID support. This is good but if the L and R do not work in the control panel there its a lost cause.
