EDIT: In an issue report, a user described a problem similar to what you said here. He uninstalled and reinstalled the controller and it worked. Try that.
Thank your for such a fast reply and I looked at a lot of other posts about the Retrolink controller. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling.
