Oh god I'm so sick of these things. Those retrolink controllers are awful. My condolences. Please be aware that even after you get it set up, the C stick will probably not work left to right and L and R analog definitely will not work. I'm not entirely sure on everything yet, but one thing is clear - the controller is poorly designed.
Anyway, as for you problem, it should be showing up. Can you give us more information? Show us your GCpad config window or something?
EDIT: In an issue report, a user described a problem similar to what you said here. He uninstalled and reinstalled the controller and it worked. Try that.
