Sad
Hi there,

I've just sat down to play the amazing Resident Evil on the Gamecube that i've not played in a few years but i'm having issues with the audio being glitchy/stuttering.

I've left all settings on default with everything apart from display which i've put to:

Use full screen
x4 AA
x4 AS

My PC spec is as follows:

i7 2700K at 5.Ghz
NVidia 580 GTX
8GB Rip Jaws
Kingston HyperX 120GB SSD

Would anyone be kind enough to help me fix these issues please because i'm dieing to sit down and have a proper play!

Thank you.

You should probably use LLE audio. Your computer is more than enough to handle it. Have a look at this guide by ExtremeDude2, that will tell you how to obtain the necessary DSP files for LLE audio. LLE audio is more accurate than HLE audio, so it might help with stuttering sounds in RE.

You didn't say which RE game you were playing, but be warned, some of the sound issues with a few RE games can't be solved even with LLE audio. I don't know which RE games have this issue (LordVador knows, he should be posting here sometime Big Grin) but at any rate, LLE audio is probably your best bet for perfect sound.

It's recommended to use the official Dolphin 3.0 release + LLE for RE game. This will reduce the audio problems, but not completely, like Shonumi said.

It's not recommended to use old Dolphin revisions.

Quote:Old Dolphin builds: People are free to use any build that they like, but we do not recommend the use of builds older than the official 3.0 release for a number of reasons. Older builds have many more game issues and have missing features that are fixed by using the latest official release or the current Git master build. We ask that you please do not recommend that forum members use old and unsupported builds since they will most likely cause more harm than good.

Sorry forgot to mention it's the Resident Evil remake. I've got these two files in already:

dsp_coef.bin

dsp_rom.bin

About 90% of the time the game works fine but sometimes the FPS will drop significantly down to 20 or so FPS and that's where the audio issues start coming in too. This save room is a prime example:

FPS was hovering around 20-23 FPS with FRAPS.

I play Resident evil Zero and remake and tried most of the version of dolphin and that one works great (you can play the entire game without any freeze), after a number dont rember what exactly it seems that the sound get broken and never get fixed later on, I wouldnt recommend it if didnt work for me in the first place, is not that hard to download it and try it you will only lose a few minutes, but some users tends to ignore what you write and keep insisting on whatever they want.
Do you want to try 3.0? try it but you will not be able to fix the sound stuttering from any of the cut-scenes.

Alright i've tried version r6505 and found that it works the best out of that one and the newest one, thanks bat2com.

But i'm still having issues in save spots, I have to idea why but the frame rate just starts to tank to 23-24 FPS and the music starts to get glitchy, is there a setting i've missed somewhere?

Nobody said you were wrong. Some old revisions work very fine you're right. They aren't officially supported on the forum mainly because they're old and logically supposed to be less "advanced". Old revisions can be useful in some cases but should always be used as a complement, an alternative at least, of 3.0 or recent builds

You're right. I second you

Try to set FrameLimit to Off
