Hello all Sad

I am a newb, i have been reading a lot trying to learn the most i can about the emulator, i managed to run Resident Evil Archives: RE1(my first game with Dolphin) at full speed on Dolphin rev7432 (x86) which was 30-60 fps in-game and in cinematic respectively and even finished the game, had no sound issues, no crashing problems, nothing... it gave me a hard time at first to find a proper rev for it but like i said i managed, and also set the configuration by reading this thread and it was a success. The actual problem came after i tried to run Resident Evil 0... using the same Dolphin Rev(7432) and messing with the prior configuration i had set for RE1, i also downloaded other revs but i couldn't make it to run at a decent speed so i dropped it and went back to play RE1 but oh surprise! this one too is running slowly now ! so went back and set the configuration to what it was before running RE0 and nothing! still running slow, deleted the Dolphin files and downloaded it again and nothing! no matter what i do or how settings are it refuses to run at 100% anymore Sad nothing changed(except for the settings, but only the basic ones like display and graphics) so i don't know what to do... came here for some suggestions, advices, anything! i want to finish the game twice to get Jill's RE3 costume but like this it becomes nearly impossible... *sigh*

Appreciate your time for reading this and excuse my self for any misspelled words and for being so unexperienced at this.

PS: i know some might say it's because my computer is dinosaur-age like but it can't be it otherwise how could i had it run at 100% speed before, and one thing i noticed is that the graphics are like very poor now regardless of the Direct3D9 configuration, i'm starting to think maybe there is a problem with my ATI card, if this is the case how can i know it for sure?

My humble specs: Sad

Intel Celeron CPU E3300 @ 2.5Ghz ~ 2.5Ghz (stock)
MB PCChips p49g
2048MB RAM DDR3
Ati Radeon HD 4350 512MB

Hello guys, this is my first post and i want to ask something.

This is about RE Umbrella Chronicles and RE Darkside Chronicles, can I play both of the games in co-op mode?If it is possible, then what should I do to make it happen??Huh

Sorry if it sounds noob (because i am really a noob here Tongue ) or if it has been asked many times.

Exactly what do you mean with Co-op mode? If you are asking if its possible to play with 2 people, then yes, you can do so using 2 Wiimotes. I have not yet tried this as i only have 1 Wiimote, but i'm quite sure you just need to connect 2 wiimotes to the pc and have 2nd player press the Wiimote button before you enter a level.

@Retroboy

Why did you post a link to the exact same thread? Just curious XD

@DarkSharingan:

yes, that's what i mean Wink. I have tried it and it works. Thanks Wink. But i have 2 problems now.

First, is playing multiplayer can slow down the emulation?? Because when i tried, i only got roughly 30 fps Sad (when i play alone i got 60fps). Is there any special setting to solve this??

Second, I have problem on emulating the wiimote to usb joystick (I play this game using keyboard+mouse for the 1st player and usb joystick for the second player). When i tried to move the cursor (shooting target) using the joystick, it doesn't move properly. Let's say that i move the cursor to the left side. Instead of moving slowly to the left, the cursor is "teleported" to one point on the left side. So how can i properly set the wiimote to usb joystick???

Many thanks for the answer Smile

Well first off, i wouldn't think that your fps would decrease just by having a second player join the game, but as i said, i have yet to try this, so i dont really know. Perhaps because there is more action on screen at once (due to 2nd player shooting aswell as 1st player) you are having a decrease in fps, but i still thinks thats a bit of a stretch. Anyway, i have to say i don't really see your problem. I dont know about Umbrella Chronicles, but Darkside Chronicles is supposed to be running at 30 fps IN-GAME, so if you are running the game IN-GAME at 60 fps normally, then you must have tweaked the settings.

I have no experience emulating a usb joystick, so i can only guess but...

Have you enabled CPU-EFB access? If not, try enabling it.

I dont think this is the problem you are having, but if this is not enabled, a Wiimote (and presumeably an usb joystick aswell) will not move the way you want it to.

Secondly, it may be because you have to change some variables in the IR settings in the emulated Wiimote settings. (if you try this, be sure to click on the tab for 2nd player, so that you don't mess up your own aim. Also, this might only apply to emulated wiimote via keyboard, so it might not help at all.)

Sorry if i'm not really helping here, i'm not sure what do with your joystick problem.

Just to clarify:

Tested with Revision: 7283
Game: RE - Darkside Chronicles
Game ID: SBDP08
Settings will be added later

I don't mine doing more tests on this, but i need some feedback on what i found, and in any case im tired now, this took quite a while...

First of all, i have checked to see if i could get VBeam emulation to work like it should, the differences between Siklaras settings and mine were insignificant, but i changed the following:

Activated Force Bi/trillinear filtering
Set EFB scale to "integral" instead of fractional
Disabled CPU-EFB access.
Activated VBeam emulation.

The game went smoothly and no stuttering or decrease of fps by half happened like i said in last post. Later on, i changed my settings back to normal (reversed the above) except for VBeam. For whatever strange reason, game was still running great, and now i can't get the aforementioned problems to show up again:/

I DID restart my pc like Siklara told me to, before i fired up the emu, but i don't see why that should make a difference.

I did however find something on the visual glitch Siklara mentioned:

The glitch seems to happen if, under "Video" in "game properties", the "Custom Projection hack" field is TICKED, which it should be by default.
Also, If it is left empty, the light in the game will be too strong, however the "A button anmation" which appears over items and such will be shown. This animation will be missing if the hack is NOT ACTIVATED.
Awesome post, thank you for the thorough reply!

Sorry for the ultraslow reaction and also sorry if I treated you like a noob. I didn't know that you've already completed the game once, I just had no idea what could be wrong, that's why I mentioned basic things. Btw it's funny how different our results are despite the relatively similar PC.

So you switched to the settings I use, which eliminated the stuttering and the low FPS count in the game, then switched back to your old settings and it made no difference? Interesting. Now I tried your settings:
Disabled Force Bi/trillinear filtering
Set EFB scale to "fractional" instead of integral
Enabled CPU-EFB access
(+ Vbeam, but that was already enabled)

What the hell?? These changes made no difference at all in performance, I did not expect this! Usually if I enable CPU access that alone is enough to make games run much slower for me, but not this time. The only change I noticed was that the fractional scale made the game uglier because instead of smooth edges I got terribly jaggy edges.
As for the glitch problem, I tested your solution but even if I disable custom projection hack, the weird glitch is still there, plus I have the side-effects you mentioned (strong light etc). Maybe it’s caused by my catalyst driver, who knows. The game looked like this with your settings + custom projection hack:

Thus the mystery remains unsolved... but it doesn't matter because the point is we can both enjoy the game with our settings. Big Grin

Thank you very much for all the effort you put into testing Darkside Chronicles with different settings, I'm sure many will appreciate the results beside me. : )
