Resident Evil Code Veronica X NEWS:
Dolphin r7338X64 by Mamario
Got a fix for the scenario green, but causes issues with the menu, when you want to see the menu, turn off the "projection hack"(for the scenario turns green and you can see the menus, need to close the dolphin),
Use LLE too, to hear music etc ... (LLE is perfect here for this game)Smile
A "hotkey"to switch off (disable) the "Projection hack"in the middle of the game would be great.
Use these settings:

I hope that, help to find, a fix for this.

about the lines, each background is split into 2 textures, one have most of the background and the other have the rest in a small box that causes the problem. I can't see that fixed, unless someone makes a hack for it.

I will try it on OGL to see if there's any difference.

Because it seems like people have different experiences with VBeam emulation, for some it makes the games work perfect while for others its crap. I downloaded the revision that you told us you had used to play this game, so that i could check for any improvements in the emulation.
(...)
Why is it that VBeam emulation works for some people, even ELIMINATING the stuttering, while for others it slows the game down and causes the stuttering???
Sorry for the slooow answer, I haven't checked the forum for a while.
Unfortunately I'm no expert on Dolphin and I have no idea why you experience these problems because apparently you own a stronger PC than me.
I still use the same build and have the settings recommended on the first page, although I also have OpenCL enabled in the advanced Direct3D9 settings. Disabling Dest. Alpha Pass and fog don't make any difference in case of this game, but Vbeam definitely makes it run smoother for me.
My settings (+ Vbeam enabled):

Btw, if you haven't installed the necessary things required to run Dolphin, do so, it will work wonders.
Note that the game is not always running perfectly for me either, since sometimes I get stuttering in the first few seconds when entering a new stage after the loading screen, but the cutscenes and the menu are fine. I also have this weird graphical glitch at the police station before encountering the first licker. I don't know how to fix it, it's there no matter what settings I use.

One more important thing I almost forgot! If your PC has been turned on for hours, restart it before playing. For me it never fails to eliminate the stuttering COMPLETELY. (and of course close every running program that you don't need)
AMD Phenom II X2 555 @3.20 GHz, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, ASUS EAH5770 CUcore (ATI Radeon 5700 HD series, 1 GB), Windows 7 x64.

Started using r7370 to play RE4, performance was ho-hum. Turned on accurate vbeam emulation and OH MY GOD the speedup was awesome! Was mostly low-mid 20s fps before, now RE4 runs full speed 29-30 fps probably 90-95% of the time. Still have some slowdowns but not as often and not as severe as before. Unfortunately the village exit area near the lift still has major slowdown but now low 20's instead of high teens.

Highly recommend enabling this option for this game.

Now if only the devs could fix the damn music I'd be in heaven.

Strange, for me this option leads to the oppsite effect in RE4 - the FPS is cut in half from 30 to 15. I have RE4 Wii PAL. It might be hardware related I guess...

Really? wow, idunno, i have a core i5 540m, 4gb ram, & nvidia quadro fx 880m. For me the only downside is that new areas (doors/ladders with green text instead of white) load a few seconds longer, but that's a small price to pay for full 30fps once in the room IMO.

UPDATE: I have now done some more testing on this game, see "update" below post.

Update 2: Sigh, had to edit text again, i provided the wrong info for the texture glitch. Please notify me if any info is incorrect, i am pretty tired atm.

UPDATE 3: Settings added

Well first off i guess i should apologise for answering you so late lol, i HAVE been monitoring the forums, but i intended to give you an answer after doing some more tests on this game, but the thing is, i've been busy doing other stuff, and i'm not using the emulator at the moment.

Anyways, thanks for the input that you have already given me, while i already have everything i need to use the emulator properly, its kind of you to show me the "getting started" thread, however i asure you it is not needed. My ATI Driver is not completely up-to-date, but thats about all. My settings don't match yours precisely, but the things that are different should be minor details. Regardless, seeing as we have almost the exact same specs, i will do a test with your exact settings and see what happens. It won't be today, but perhaps i have time tommorow.
It is indeed strange that the effect of VBeam emulation differes greatly between us, despite our specs.

You should also note that i already completed this game long ago on another revision, i just felt like testing because alot of things seems to have changed for the better (eg. no disappearing sound effects anymore). I have never encountered the glitch that you just showed, but i will test that particular lv to see if i get that glitch aswell. It could be related to the revision itself.

I will get back to you once i know more.

Update:

Just to clarify:

Tested with Revision: 7283
Game: RE - Darkside Chronicles
Game ID: SBDP08
Settings will be added later

I don't mine doing more tests on this, but i need some feedback on what i found, and in any case im tired now, this took quite a while...

First of all, i have checked to see if i could get VBeam emulation to work like it should, the differences between Siklaras settings and mine were insignificant, but i changed the following:

Activated Force Bi/trillinear filtering
Set EFB scale to "integral" instead of fractional
Disabled CPU-EFB access.
Activated VBeam emulation.

The game went smoothly and no stuttering or decrease of fps by half happened like i said in last post. Later on, i changed my settings back to normal (reversed the above) except for VBeam. For whatever strange reason, game was still running great, and now i can't get the aforementioned problems to show up again:/

I DID restart my pc like Siklara told me to, before i fired up the emu, but i don't see why that should make a difference.

I did however find something on the visual glitch Siklara mentioned:

The glitch seems to happen if, under "Video" in "game properties", the "Custom Projection hack" field is TICKED, which it should be by default.
Also, If it is left empty, the light in the game will be too strong, however the "A button anmation" which appears over items and such will be shown. This animation will be missing if the hack is NOT ACTIVATED.

I actually read the topic you posted in the support forum yesterday, but i was too tired to answer, anyway, im assuming your talking about Darkside Chronicles.

First of all:

1. Are you talking about the instructions on the front page or what? if not i need your settings to help you out.

2. What revision are you using?

3. Specifications please
