Well, almost every place in the game, the music plays for one "loop" then cuts out. I'm assuming it's just the HLE plugin, but what about LLE? For me it's kind of a moot point since my computer is not quite fast enough to run this game with LLE. It manages about 20fps with LLE which currently means LLE sound stutters every second or so.

Try r5000 up to r6000. I never had problems between those releases with music and I don't even use LLE only HLE. Though, it was the wii version and not GC. That maybe your problem. GC audio has been known to suck compared to Wii Audio.

Hmm, ok. I'm currently using r6496 and having this issue. And this is happening on the Wii version.

I should correct myself try r5000 to r6000 releases. Devs have been making alot of changes that are fixing and breaking things. Example RE 0 audio has been broken since around 5400 something release and they just fixed it on 6838. Something might have cause the audio to loop recently and you should go download an old revision and check it out.

So I had an old copy of r5873 laying around and tried that. No dice, music cuts out just like it does on r6496.

Can someone make a short list of how well these RE games run in general, respectively, and which revisions are recommended for each (as a reference)?

Thanks.

i think it depends on each ones cpu and what resolution are you playing as such i am using r6511 (audio throttle ON) for :
Resident Evil Zero - audio throttle on fps 22-30 rarely hangs a bit..
Resident Evil Remake - 22-30 in game again rarely hangs on my cpu
Resident Evil:Code Veronica - full framerate but audio issues audio issues
Resident evil 2 - full framerate no issues found by me ..
Resident Evil 3(Nemesis) - Playable lots of sound issues and have tryed some older revisions but the same result loosing music from the game witch sets the atmosphere in the game...
Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles and Darkside Chronicles HANG A LOT on every build i have tryed ...and resident evil 4 i play it on PC version i don`t really like it anyway ..
Windows 7 x64 , 8gb ddr2 @800Mhz
Phenom 955@Stock-3.2Ghz , Sapphire HD6970

Great news for RE) Wii fans - since r6897 there i a new game specific option called "Accurate VBeam emulation". If you turn it on RE0 Wii is finally playable at 30 FPS (compared to 23 if it is off). Have fun!

Thanks for that tip, it did give it a few more fps which is great.

On another note:

Does anybody know why when I'm playing these games, for some reason the game gets stuck (drops fps) for a few seconds and then resumes and it does this sometimes only once and then goes back to normal, then other times it does this constantly for a minute or two. It usually does this after a video when I'm about to shoot a zombie, or at the start of a video or a new room. This has happened to RE0 and RE: DC. I have the PAL version of both games btw. My computer specs are:

Intel Core I5 750 Quad Core Processor Lynnfield LGA1156 2.66GHZ 8MB Cache Retail Box

Gigabyte P55-UD4P ATX LGA1156 P55 DDR3 2PCI-E 3PCI-E1 2PCI RAID 2GLAN CrossFireX SLI Motherboard

XFX Radeon HD 5850 725MHZ 1GB GDDR5 4.0GHZ 2XDVI HDMI Display Port DIRECTX11 PCI-E Video Card

2x G.SKILL F3-10666CL9S-4GBRL Ripjaws 4GB 1X4GB DDR3-1333 CL9-9-9-24 240PIN DIMM Memory

Thanks.

EDIT: It also does it on Umbrella Chronicles NTSC.

The same thing happens to me.

In RE: Darkside Chronicles, you have the problem of "shots of your weapon that you do not hear"?
Initially I can hear the sound of shots, then mini freeze and I can not hear the sound of shots.

If you have these problems, I think it is a problem with the FIFO, already reported by several users in the previous revs ...
