Hello everyone. I'm new to the forums. Sort of new to emulation too. With that said, I've been wanting to emulate my favorite game, Resident Evil for Gamecube, on my PC since I've gotten it in December. Finally, I've been able to and have been doing so for the last 2 weeks. However, I've been having problems with the audio BGM not functioning properly. I've read every page from the first to this one looking for a solution. I've seen quite a few others ask the same question and either not gotten a response or given the suggestion of using an older version of Dolphin.

I've tried using older versions but experience other problems such as slow downs and other bugs the older versions hadn't yet fixed. I'm currently using version SVN R6007, one of the very latest versions of Dolphin to run the game. I've completed the game many times these past 2 weeks, experienced pretty much everything you can within the game and have had no problems with the exception of the audio BGM and not being able to change discs. It runs the game perfectly from A to Z with all of the settings turned all the way up, with the exception of the audio BGM problems and being unable to change discs, so I have to save just before it's time to change to disc 2 and use Dolphin 2.0 to change discs, then save and switch back to SVN R6007 to finish the game. I swap Memory Card files from the user file between the 2 versions to do this.

The version of Resident Evil I'm playing is the USA NTSC version. I've read something about an audio HLE plugin but that it's still faulty and better to use the default audio plugin until it's been fixed.

With all of that said, can anyone tell me if their's a way I can fix the audio BGM without making any sacrifices in the settings? Also, I want to add that Dolphin 2.0 doesn't run the game nearly as well as the SVN R6007 version I'm using. The only benefit I get from using Dolphin 2.0 is switching discs, because for whatever reason, SVN R6007 doesn't allow me to change discs. If anyone knows a fix for either of the two problems, please let me know. Like I've said, I've read through each and every page of this thread trying to find an answer. My apologies for the lengthy post.

Hi and welcome to the board.

Yes the BGM is screwed up on REmake GC version. It is known and has been broken since at least r4460. Personally I keep hoping one of the devs will take notice and fix this. So far no luck, although there have been a few dsp related commits recently, but none of them fix REmake. I tried r6075 and it's still broke.

REmake Wii BGM works perfectly as far as I can tell. But it's a little slower than REmake GC.

Also you CAN change discs. Pop open the main dolphin window and go to Emulation -> Change Disc or something like that.

As for the available audio plugins there are two: HLE and LLE. HLE emulates the DSP at a higher level of abstraction (hence HLE) while LLE more closely emulates the actual DSP hardware (hence LLE). LLE is more compute intensive, has its own set of bugs, and requires you to dump the dsp rom files from your Wii. Most games work with HLE fine, some like Zelda Wind Waker need LLE. REmake GC will produce BGM with the LLE but it's really static-y.

Again, welcome!

Finally the RE 4 PAL Wii is bootable again. It must have been fixed in some of he revisions between 6080 and 6092. The last revision that used to boot this edition of the game was 5022.

I'm having a bit of a peculiar problem with Resi: The Darkside Chronicles.
I'm at the start with Krauser, did all the settings as suggested. But the audio loops, newest revision available '6093', Krauser just repeats his phrase
"Jack Krauser: "Their heads! Blow their heads off! Not bad, comrade. If that's the toughest these bio-organic weapon things get, then we got nothin' to worry about."
But he doesn't repeat the whole thing, he just repeats: " things get, then we got nothin' to worry about."
and it's quite damn annoying.

Any idea why it's looping?

well I think you should report an issue so the devs can take a look.

Just one question I have an Intel Core2Duo E8400 3.0GHz.
Resident Evil 4 (Wii) run almost full speed (30 fps) most of the time, but when Ganados start showing my fps drop to (26 fps).
If I make an overclocking on my processor to 3.6GHz or 4.0GHz gain some fps with it?Smile
Summarizing overclocking on my cpu speed increase on dolphin in all games?Huh

Overclocking is dangerous it voids any and all warranty and can render your cpu useless, gotta say that first, but now that that's out of the way. Yeah of course you can overclock it to 3.6GHz and yes you will see a performance increase, simply because you've got more processor to work with, .6 personally I think is a big leap, plus you need to take overclocking in steps anyways.

Summarizing, yes overclocking your processor may fix the framerate issue, just be careful in doing so, you dont want to ruin your processor over 4 frames. But I would reccommend it personally as long as you're careful.

Computer crashes to blue screen and restarts itself when accessing the map screen in RE1. Other than that the game runs fine. I avoid using map at all but now I reach to a point that the map is automatically loaded (the place in the game where there is a hole on the wall to spray insecticide through to kill bees). Below is my settings:
~dolphin-2.0.win32 (I have tried Dolphin r6095 but it seems not to work with Dolphin Direct3D9 graphic plugin - it says Dolphin.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close)
~
~Graphics plugin Dolphin Direct3D9 (I use this because my graphic card cannot support OpenGL)
~Dolphin settings: all the ones stated on page one of this thread except "use native mips" because Dolphin 2.0 does not have this option.
~Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz
~2GB system RAM
~Windows XP Pro

I guess it may be my graphic card (Intel chipset). Anyway I still post this problem just in case any expert knows there is other way to solve it. Please ask me anytime if further information is needed. Thanks in advance!
