most of the time, yes. Just some minor-medium slowdowns in some rooms.

hi!
first of all,i'm italian and my english would'nt be good..so please forgive me Smile
then i just get into this forum to solve a problem with dolphin r4881 from orleans..i hope you can help me..
i just get an iso copy of r.e.-reborn from my gamecube original disc, i download the latest release of dolphin from the official site,but the game freezes after the message "this game contains scenes of explicit violence etc.."
so i tried an iso copy of resident evil 0, and it works well..no freezes,no crashes,playable framerate (25-30 fps on my phenom x4)..
then i tried some previous releases and the problem with reborn still remain..i updated everything (directx,frameworks,visual c++ and video card driver )but the same thing still happenened..
i tried it on different pcs with different components,and the only one who seem to continue after that screen was the pc in my work-office, a pentium dualcore 2.66 with the intel g33 graphic chipset (and it plays terrible!).
please help me!!i never finished this game before and my gamecube is unavaiable since 2 years..thanks to all and forgive my english Smile

just FINISHED Resident Evil Archives Wii version on dolphin, and i wanted to share the settings/experience.

My system: PhenomII X3 720 @3,2ghz // Radeon 4850 1gb // 4gb ram // Win7 32bit.

Dolphin version used-> r4830 IL

stuff i enabled on general:
-dual core
-idle skipping
-HLE the IPL
-Lock threads to Cores
-Optimize quantizers
-dps on thread

stuff i enabled on Dx9 plugin(openGL is running slower and is not very good looking):
-Fullscreen resolution 1280x1024 (i have a 4:3 19" monitor)
-4x Msaa (NOT WORKING, AA seems broken, i left it enabled anyway Tongue )
-Safe Texture Cache
-Enable CPU->EFB
-Forci Bi/Trilinear
-Enable 16x Anisotropy (this is not AntiAliasing!)
-EFB Scaled copy
-EFB Copy to ->Texture

Sound Settings:
-everything checked and with openAL

So, first of playing that game on dolphin was FUN. So if you're thinking about playing that game on your pc and use your sweet xbox360 pad which is 100x better imho than wiimote for this game, and have similar pc like mine or better go right ahead, its really enjoyable! And i mean not the game itself i mean the experience you will have on the Emu. A game like RE is CRAP if you get errors all 5mins, or no music and stuff like that. The whole atmosphere is gone...
For me with the settings above and as a fan of the series from the beginning i could really dive back in to the world of survival horror if you know what i mean. There was a crash when my antivirus made its update, in general ALT+TABbing seems a little buggy when u enable Fullscreen in the config.
Also from time to time the Sound was flickering pretty nasty, but it occured only 2-3 times in the playthrough and only lasted until i left the room - np.
FPS wise the normal gameplay was steady at 30fps (fullspeed) when there were slowdowns it was during the ingamegraphic cutscenes about down to 20fps for short durations.

Thinkin about going through again as Chris Smile

I have solved the problem i mentioned above. Just disabled "Dual Core"
and everything worked fine: unlocked "real survival mode" and got a closet key. It took 14 hours to complete this game on hard mode Big Grin. The game is really gripping and creepy but it requires a lot of patience and a little thinking to solve riddles.

Finally!! The "Optimize quantizers" feature is improved and became an integral part of Dolphin (always on). Now RE1 (and other games) can safly be played on x86 and x64 JIT version without weird graphical bugs. This leads of course to a speed boost Smile

For everyone playing the Gamecube version of Resident Evil Remake, do not enable idle skipping. Idle skipping will make the game run much slower in some parts of the game such as the main candlelit lobby in the beginning of the mansion, the graveyard/outdoor scenes, the lab in the hall with the large ventilation fan and the shadow it casts. If you have idle skipping disabled these parts will run full speed providing you have a decent system.

does that only apply for the GC version? Not for Wii version?

I tested the Wii version and Idle skipping doesn't seem to affect it at all. I'm still testing other games with and without idle skipping to see what option is better on a per game basis.

Both Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil Remake are slightly faster with idle skipping enabled.
