Resident Evil 4 Wii freezes in castle pressure plate puzzle

I've been thoroughly enjoying my playthrough of Resident Evil 4 for the Wii when I encountered a major freeze issue...this has been recreated in the PAL and NTSC version of the game.

I'm in chapter 3-1, inside the castle, and I've just fought my way through a hoard of enemies and I go downstairs into a room with 2 pressure plates. Whenever I step on the pressure plate of the right hand side, when entering the room, the game straight up freezes, no error or anything. I can escape out of it, but it happens consistently.

Any ideas what may be causing that?

As i stated in the residentEvil series thread, push the broad little by little onto the plate on the right till she depresses it, then have leon get on the left plate.

You can also switch to the JITIL recompiler for this one part, although that's a little less convenient.
