Try using the latest dev build, they fix lots of issues that are still there in the stable build.

I wouldn't recommend the latest development builds for RE3 quite yet. We removed a hack that allows the multitrack background music to work and we still haven't found a proper fix.

FWIW, I've completed RE3 using a slightly older version of the hacked build I posted in the Resident Evil 2 thread here: https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-gc...ent-evil-2

The hack has to be explicitly applied in a config file so it shouldn't mess up anything else. The instructions are on page 5 and the download is on page 6, as is the .patch file if you want to compile it yourself. I have no idea how it runs with HD textures or any version of the game other than the PAL one.

Judging from your post in RE2 thread, the hack build doesn't work for you because you haven't added the line "RE2DSPHack = True" to RE3's config file. That has to be in either the game's config file or Dolphin's main config file (don't recommend this as the hack can break other games).

If you can't view the file through the interface, for the US or PAL versions of the games you're looking for GLE.ini for RE3 and GHA.ini for RE2. They should be in the Sys\GameSettings subdirectory of wherever you've installed Dolphin.

You don't need the .patch file unless you're building Dolphin yourself from source, but there are guides online on how to do that and apply the patch with GIT or GIT compatible tools.

EDIT: Incidentally, the hack is to fix the sound not the black screen. If you still get a black screen with the hack switched on, something else is going on.

why would you remove the hack without finding a proper fix first?

Because the hack was breaking other games. I'd rather have sound glitches in Resident Evil 2/3 than 5 or 6 games crashing due to the hack being embedded in Dolphin's codebase.

Well I don't know how to fix this other than -playing on a older version of dolphin so I'm just going to wait till the next stable version.
