Just joined this forum specifically to post this question (so I hope this is the right section)...
I've been a big fan of the RE Seamless HD Project since it came out, however I'm at my wits' end trying to get these games (both RE2 and 3) to run on a new PC I got a couple of months ago (both games continue to run fine on my 10 year old laptop).

The issue: Both RE2 and 3 Seamless will initially load and play fine but eventually the game will freeze and then go to a black screen and my entire PC becomes unresponsive and has to be powered down. This typically happens within the first 5 minutes but I've made it as far as 20 minutes before freezing. I've tried all of the shader options as well as all of the backends (OpenGL, D3D11, D3D12, Vulkan), as well as deleting the Cache folder before launching, but nothing seems to make a difference. While I've yet to have this occur during a FMV cutscene, I've had it happen while in literally every other scenario (menuing, walking, combat, entering new room, in-game cutscene, etc.).

The only hint I might have as to what might be causing this was from my latest attempt where after starting a new game I pressed Delete to turn the seamless pack off. On this playthrough, the game still froze and went to black screen a few minutes in, however this time I was able to recover Windows and sure enough there was a popup error that said "Warning: Failed to submit command buffer." with an "Ok" button and a "Ignore for this session" button. Dolphin had already closed.

I suppose it's worth noting that the stable version of Dolphin does not have this issue when I play regular GC RE2 and 3.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what is causing this and how I can fix it?

System: Windows 10, Intel Core i9 3.7GHz, 64GB RAM, Nvidia RTX 3080 (latest drivers)

Thanks in advance!

Oh that looks more suited for an investigation and answer on our Discord, we can help you in real time there to see what could be wrong. There's a link to it on the website in my signature. We have updated the Dolphin build with a more recent rev, you can try it, it might eventually fix the issue : https://drive.google.com/u/3/uc?id=1AP99MgyMQqPmEfL3P1MZxXY5pI6lDFry&export=download

Hi Kayael,
Thanks for the revised build, unfortunately I'm still experiencing the issue, however I've discovered something promising. If I increase the emulated CPU clock speed, I can go significantly longer before crashing. The bad news is that even with the clock maxed out at 400%, I still eventually got a crash, though it was at over an hour of gameplay.

That's really weird. In any case, you said the latest stable release worked correctly ? Have you tried any recent rev build on other games to see if this issue is happening ? The 2 hacks we implemented (a correct 4:3 aspect ratio and and custom wildcard feature for textures, it's like a 10 lines of code total, nothing more) shouldn't really impact anything.

Hey Kayael,
I may have spoken too soon about the non-HD/regular Dolphin version. After doing some extended testing over the last few days, I can confirm that both RE2 and RE3 are freezing as well, it's just happening much later in the gameplay sessions with the emulated CPU at 100%. I went ahead and submitted issue #12537 on the official Dolphin bug report site.

Please note though, when these versions freeze up, Dolphin (currently using build 5.0-14398) simply quits to desktop whereas the Seamless HD versions (both 5.0-9918 and 5.0-13151) completely lock up my PC and I have to power cycle it.

Just an FYI, the wildcard feature should be extended soon so this pack will work in Dolphin. As for the aspect ratio, sadly I doubt anything regarding that will ever get merged considering the number of differing opinions when user "mirrorbender" tried to implement better options for this a few years back.

Thanks @Bighead, that's a pretty good news indeed if we can rely on the official build again. As for the aspect ratio, there's still the possibility for users to set a 4:3 monitor resolution and use stretch output in Dolphin I guess.

Hi and thank you for the very beautiful patch.
I wonder if we can run the modified ISO on Wii/Wii U? Since Wii U can run any Gamecube ISO with about 0 issue.

Can I apply the HD texture patch to the ISO format? and generate a new ISO? and I will test the generated ISO on my Wii U.
Thanks.

No, you (in general) can't put textures of much higher quality than the originals into an ISO.

Thank you.
Nevertheless the project looks for very good with AI upscaled images.

Maybe in the future it could be possible to patch the ISO to replace the backgrounds with the upscaled 480p images (they're still better than the original PS1 240p)
