I just finished A ranking re3 (holy crap was it quite tricky, as im not a pro exactly). obviously, that was the second time because the first playthrough i spent about 2 hours in each room admiring how beautiful the backgrounds look now Big Grin and I know it's still not exactly where you guys want RE3 to be, but to me RE3 and 2 has never looked better.

Well done to everyone truly.

I am also drooling at what you guys could have done with Dino Crisis 2 had it come to gamecube but I'll keep that to myself...

Thanks, and boy do I feel you about Dino Crisis 2, I still play it from time to time.

To Ultrasors : sadly no, not for now, the way the game (or the emulator) handles some textures (including this one) makes it impossible.

I'll wait for RE3, there's a lot of redumps even for the characters models. Not sure we'll see the end of it xD

thanks!

edit: now that I'm sure I have all the files, I'm still running into an issue with custom foreground textures not being loaded... using the same settings as you have in both the current dolphin build and 5.0-550... any idea what I need to do to fix this? https://i.imgur.com/LB056Dq.jpg

Nope that's how it is right now, I was not satisfied of the xBRZ filter with the new BG upscales so for now these textures are untouched.

Good news, I've been in contact with MoArtis who previously did that : https://twitter.com/MoArtis/status/1015654608947953665. He's finalizing his tool so we'll be able in a near future to correct 2 major problems :
- The seams on the right part of the upscaled BG (they are divided in 3 so since I upscaled them separately, the joints are visible)
- New processed masks based on the upscaled backgrounds.

That second step will need some more time because we'll have to process every texture manually to check and correct what's needed but in the end, we'll have a true HD seamless mask.

That's great!
Also, I'm new here and wanna help with the upscale project. I'm already working by myself but as expected I got the same issues as you guys. There are .tim files inside some .SLD files which are the transparent/2D objects from the scenarios. Actually in the PC version I was able to unpack those and repack with upscaled textures, but not worth it cuz PC version doesn't support high res textures.

So I moved to GC version, which brings me here. (I'm using A.I. GigaPixel but some backgrounds are definitely messed up. Those need to be recreated on photoshop, and I can do that.)

Talking about the pixelated parts ? That's what we're working on for RE2, these are the mask textures that need to be processed manually based on the upscaled BG because they're stored as tiles. And for now, they're dumped countless times in RE3 under different names so it's basically impossible to replace them. We'll have to wait for that.

Exactly. That's kinda sad, but thanks.

Also I downloaded those backgrounds you posted and for some reason the names doesn't match with the ones from my game, btw it's the USA version for Gamecube.
Here the ones I have that are working: https://i.imgur.com/F5AftOE.png

What version of Dolphin do you have ? Your naming looks like it's an old build, the "new" naming is tex_**** to allow NTSC & PAL working with a same pack (I used NTSC version btw).

I'm using Dolphin 5.0, which version do you recommend me to use? Thanks in advance!
