I understand this isn't for the quest, yet. But it would great so far other than the touch overlay. It's not possible to get the menu to show while in game.

Any way to modify the ini files to set the game overlay off?

isn't the quest just acting like a display strapped to your face and you can't actually move with the HMD?

Yes. But no. You can move, the screen is floating. It runs Android 7.1.1

It's inevitable that the quest will run it, I just want it sooner. The emulator should have no overlay by default, rather than the other way. It would solve several issues. Chromebooks have the same problem.
You can already run almost any Android emulator app including virtual boy. You can also stream your desktop to play steam games or whatever.
The ability to have so many things in one device and it can be configured to look like an old school Gameboy in a 90s bedroom. If you want, that is. Emuvr does this.
I also have dolphin VR on a desktop setup with a racing chair. Modified Mario kart to give you the drivers seat and you have full capability to look around. With a gas pedal and steering wheel.
Having dolphin Android running on a floating screen in a futuristic house in the mountains is a very simple VR experience. But the control overlay and the inability to trigger the in game menu to open other than a swipe that cannot be done in the default way, is very distracting. Cannot move them, cannot toggle. I would very much like to be able to though.

That's a stretch. The Oculus Quest is quite weak for Dolphin. It's running a two year old SoC, so, it's going to behave like a two year old phone, but able to do longer play sessions before throttling. You can expect that any kind of demanding game will perform badly, especially if you want the Quest's full resolution.

Just do this? Then you won't have to worry about the overlay or the performance limitations of the Quest.

It already runs perfectly fine. It's not a stretch. I've already been playing it. The overlay is a problem, that's all.

I can't always remote into my machine to play the game. Since the device is capable of running it fine, why use 2 devices?

I do not care to try and run at that resolution. Have you played anything in VR? If not, you should probably try it. Your machine list on the signature seems as if you have plenty of devices that would run VR well. None of the Macs would, but why have a 2080ti without actually pushing it?

I guess I'll just give up on this thread. Nobody here excited to try new things with their devices.

Nevermind everyone. I did it myself. Recompiled after modifying the code. Only took 2 hours of updating to get there.
Going to publish the link to quest Reddit thread and dolphin Reddit thread. This place seems to poopoo ideas rather than help the community. But, haters gonna hate.

Probably for the best. I'm not aware of any developer here who cares about VR support (for now)

Nothing to do with VR other than you could use it in there. It's about the stupid idea of having an overlay by default. Should be the opposite and the swipe gesture doesn't work on Chromebooks, some Android devices and in VR.
