Hi everyone, I have been having problems with in game saves in Pikmin 1 GC NTSC-US in the XTEmulation r4361 build, so I decided to try out XTEmulation's r4393 build. In there, I'm unable to load a saved state.
So rather than just reporting it, I figured I'd download the latest SVN and get everything working with VC++ Express, which I have now managed to do.
Now that I have that done, I have not tested it yet on r4435, but I wanted to come here to offer assistance with regression testing. I've got experience doing just that over at the Wine Linux Project and am pretty sure it's not much different for Windows, so that shouldn't be an issue.
However the dev environment is quite a bit different, so in case I have problems compiling an older revision, I wanted to forewarn that I may ask some questions regarding that as well.
At any rate, I'm going to start out by figuring out what patch it is that causes save states to not work, and then I'll go back and try to find a revision where in game saves actually work 100% of the time. I'll post back with progress once I know more.
This post is just a heads up that I'll be doing so.
Just tested SVN r4435, no dice on loading the save there either
Didn't work in 4379 either, though the emulator doesn't silently fail there either, it goes into an infinite sound loop. Same for 4368, trying 4361 from svn now...
Well, 4361 appears to load the save file, by the fact that the sound does not loop, but the video doesn't come up with the loaded state!
Oddly enough, now even XTEmulation's 4361 won't bring up the graphics!
Fresh save state file looks good in 4361 both SVN and XTEmulation. Loads fine in 4363 SVN as well.
4364 works
4365 works, bumping to 4368
4368 fails
4366 also fails, and boy are there a lot of changes in there!
So to summarize: r4365 works to load a save state, but 4366 does not work to load a save state. Posted this issue in the issue tracker as a response to issue 206
