So I thought we could have a thread were we post our own custom levelsSmile

I haven't made any yet though, will probably take some days before I'm able to create something worthwhile (It seems to have lots of stuff to learn)

And don't forget, if you make a good level you should submit it too the Newer Super Mario Bros Wii project, a fan-made game with all custom levels (the project hasn't really come that alive yet but should now that the editor is out)

You can use the levels in Dolphin, but usage on wii is also supported with riivolution. you can extract the the stage files from your game from Wii to SD with Reggie! Dumper, or extract them from a dumped iso with Dolphin or WiiScrubber.

EDIT: So my first concept involved puzzles where bullet bills must break brick blocks. Unfortunately, bullet bills can't break the blocks, they pass right through...Sad

EDIT2: I have a new concept now that I will make, a vertical underground maze level, with lots of brick blocks. (Always wanted one of those)

that's really cool, I was waiting for this Big Grin im gonna check what we're able to do with it and try to do some type of dolphin boss fight, maybe replace bowser at the last lvl castle Tongue hopefully it has some type geometry importer that atleast supports bone binding and animation. (i don't think its possible Sad )

on a side note, has anyone thought of doing a remake of past mario games with this?
My Specs: AMD Phenom II x4 940 3.0ghz - w7/Ubuntu 11.04

I've created about half the level, but there's some visual glitches with lava sprite area overlapping the ground next to it (Putting the ground in layer 0 doesn't help). But a more serious bug, when I fail my level 3 times, Dolphin hangs and the process is hard to kill. Haven't tested on wii yet but fear it's some shitty memory glitch with the game... (I didn't even insert that much stuff... yet)

It's like an evil GAME OVER from the NES era

I think when you alter the game levels you will be altering the game code and can re-introduce new bugs for that game.

Nah, fortunately it's safe. When you load a level it just invokes all the objects & enemies the .arc file has stored on it. It's like the custom sprites mods for melee or brawl, totally harmless because they are basically just image files.

You really can't even get stuck on a level, unless it either lacks a flagpole at the end, or due to poor level design where it's possible to get stuck behind, between or under an object (in which case you can just leave the level or reset console/dolphin)

Yeah but it's not finished (Only beta testers of Reggie have worked on it yet)

BTW I've changed the level more and now it doesn't crash after I fail 3 times... so seems to be something I did

EDIT: So I finished the underground "maze" level, it's not that much of a maze though... It's a little short and bland. One of the problems is that as long as you're required to break blocks, there can only be OHKO hazards, no enemies... so I'll come up with a better concept next time.

With layer 0 enabled:

With layer 0 disabled:

background is volcano, music is underground (like in 1-2), the purple fields is lava, and the one in the far right is a lava geysir

With Wiiscrubber v1.4, the stage folder is in the root of partition 1. There's more level names than levels though, i haven't tried replacing higher levels but at least for the first world, 01-01 is stage 1 etc. But replacing 01-01 will make your stage have the castle background always, so use 01-02 instead

too extract the whole stage folder at once, (required to use Reggie) you must extract the whole partition, will maybe take 10+ minutes
