James is saying that if you on a quad core you will have 2 cores open for fraps since dolphin is only using 2 cores. He's not saying you need 2 cores for fraps.

Not as bad as using a single core makes games skip like a CD x_x...

1GB of DDR2 RAM
AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 2.40Ghz (Singlecore)

I prefer growler guncam over fraps. Less hit on system resources compared to fraps, end avi's are smaller since it uses divx compared to uncompressed avi's of fraps, and it allows you to do simple video editing before forming your avi (growler records into .gcf files which you then can edit and export to avi's) . Also, the free version is full for 14 days with all options enabled compared to fraps 30 sec demo version.

Cons: No fps overlay like fraps has. Not as simple to setup at beginning compared to the fraps . If you on vista or windows 7, you would want to check this video out as it shows how to install it on those Os's (guncam was designed for xp and has not been updated) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SU1geDZ-BxQ
Just of the video is to install growler and divx codec if you don't have them, move the guncam.exe to another folder, set in compatibility mode as xp sp3, run as administrator and you are set.

Growler guncam can be downloaded at http://www.growlersoftware.com

I have been using it for ALL my dolphin videos.
i downloaded the trial of guncam...i can record the screen, but how can i record games. can u explain to me? i've been trying to get it work for 2 days and haven't figured it out yet Tongue
guncam is free forever but will have a watermark, that's what i heard

Most of the time its not FRAPS thats causing me to drop frames when recording in 1080P at 60 FPS, fraps takes around 50% cpu on two cores. Its my harddrive struggling to catch up with the rest of the computer. Dumping uncompressed video at 60FPS and 1080P is simply too much data for a single harddrive to handle.

@ Gundam

Here are all my settings
[Image: ynpyc.png]

Video size was set when I hooked my Pc up to my friends 42 inch Vizio. Change your settings accordingly. My normal is "width 1280" "height 960." (old pic but rest of settings are close)
You can even upsample or downsample in the Capture Setup. (record in a bigger resolution or smaller and have the video size set accordingly.
Allows for alot of play also if you are still struggling cpu wise.
You can also record at less then 30 fps for even more wiggle room)

Once you have your settings set, you will simply hit your record button (mine is set to the "+" button) to start recording.
You will hear a ding sound notifying you that it has started to record.
Also, you may see a green box at the top left for a couple seconds notifying you that recording has begun.
It will record anything that is on the screen in the foreground.
Hit the button again to stop the recording.

Here is a quick tutorial I made for you gundam after your video has been made.
This is a really simplified version. There are many other options in guncam for editing.

If you have any question on setup gundam then just let me know. To answer your question on the 14 days, the watermark is HORRIBLE.
Its better to just delete the program and its associated registry files (if you don't delete the registry then it will say you have used your 14 days) and reinstall.
