Well my laptop its crappy and it barely runs some games and I plan on using $1000 (with the guarantee included) to buy a laptop and I would like someone to help me pick a good laptop into that price range.

I do not know much about the specs needed so if u explain a bit too it would be awesome. (sorry if my english sucks. I understand everything you guys write just that my grammar sucks I guess)

Thanks in advance!

My current Laptop Specs
Dell Inspiron 1521
1918 mb Ram
AMD Athlon Processor™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor ~1.7 GHz

You'll want to find a laptop that has a high processor clock speed. That's what is hard to find, I looked around and about the fastest speed is 2.8 GHz but usually end up costing a lot. Looking around at the new i5 and i7 laptops but they top out at around 2.53 and the mobile versions of the cpu and gpu usually dont have the same performance as there desktop counterparts.

Post wrong place.Anyway you must not buy any laptop contain Intel HD or GMA 4500.Intel gfx card all bad and not for gaming
Core i5 more benefit for dolphin than core i7 both price and performance(dolphin not support more than 2 core)
There are alot of cheap laptop : Acer,Asus,Gateway(650-1000USD)... just don't buy HP,Compaq (bad quality) and dell (high price above 1000USD)
Laptop:

Asus seems to be the best option since I dont trust that other brands. Thanks guys Smile
(actually I think I found a decent priced dell)

Dell - Inspiron Laptop / Intel® Core™ i5 Processor / 17.3" Display / 6GB Memory DDR3 / 640GB Hard Drive (829) (with best buy guarantee goes up to 990)

what's the gpu?

though with that display i suspect it'll be humongous/desktop replacement? you'd better off buying a full fledged desktop and guarantee a strong performance in dolphin and any other emulator/game.

No idea it doesnt say anything about the GPU on best buy.http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olstemplatemapper.jsp?id=pcat17080&type=page&qp=crootcategoryid%23%23-1%23%23-1~~q70726f63657373696e6774696d653a3e313930302d30312d3031~~cabcat0500000%23%230%23%2311a~~cabcat0502000%23%230%23%23o~~nf118||364742&list=y&nrp=15&sc=abComputerSP&sp=%2Bcurrentprice+skuid&usc=abcat0500000 (check the Dell at 829.99 and tell me if you find it)

If its about mine well I dont know XD (tell me how to check that out and I write it back)

So yeah, get a better one, preferably with an ATI radeon 57xx or GTS250m and above.

As slipk said a cpu with a high clock rate is important. However please keep in mind that just because an i5/i7 CAN reach a certain clock rate like 2.8GHz doesn't mean it WILL. The laptop has to stay cool for turbo boost to work properly. Either a C2D or i5/i7 with a high clock rate is fine. As admin98 said anything past dual core is pointless.

And as naon said you need a decent gpu. This is the hardest thing. Despite what some people might tell you on this forum dolphin needs a pretty powerful gpu for running some games at a high resolution, few laptop gpus are powerful enough.

As long as you have at least 2GB of ram your fine but 4GB is recommended for general system performance.

Make sure it comes with 64 bit windows 7.

Also make sure to grab a game controller as well while your shopping, using emulators with a keyboard should be a crime.

I can't really think about anything else at the moment, that's probably everything you need to know. Good luck.
