It actually is very likely the problem.. Many game menus are not clickable at all without using pointer on them.. And you can't use pointer at all with wiimote, if you don't have an infrared source like a functional sensor bar.

If you manage to somehow move a cursor through nunchuck, that's not pointer. It's cursor. There is absolutely no way to move wiimote pointer if you didn't correctly set up candles or IR emitter. Not many games use cursor anymore (like brawl), in most games you need pointer to advance.

yeah, i know that from the Wii. And i have a lot of experience with the Wii. BUT if you had read my description of the problem, you would have noticed that the buttons do not work either! Also, in a game like Bit.trip, where you don't need the pointer and only use the accelerometer-values, the game-"pointer" (that pong-like paddle) is also gone. When i hit the recording button, no values show up most of the time. The Wii Remote works fine in WiinRemote (IR Pointer as well). Ergo, it must be a problem with Dolphin.

Funny that. I just posted a message thread about my new Nyko controller i bought at work tonight not about to connect. It shows it's connects, and it shows in the Joystick panel, but nothing else, nor can Dolphin see it when trying to connect. And doubtfully my USB dongle as my PS3 remote and phone both connect just fine. But my Nyko controller, the 4 button's just blink when i push any button, after it connects. I am taking it back tommorow and just going to buy a Nintendo brand controller. And i will test it on a customer's laptop at work (I'm an IT at work.) to see, or a few. So at least if it DOES work, and doesn't at home, i know i will need to buy a better USB bluetooth device. The one i have i use now is ANYCOM USB-500 mini USB adapter.

same thing here, using Dolphin on my Media Center PC (win7), is there some solution for this it's annoying because it's a HTPC and can't start a wii game properly, directly from media center

Use the pair up button within dolphin(dont forget to press 1+2), it removes the old invalid pairing and adds a new one. if it fails just restart dolphin and try again.

Not sure if anyone else has the problem, but I've had it ever since first using dolphin..

If pairing up from dolphin and pressing 1+2,, the first time *always* fails and it says "device has not been correctly installed". After I restart dolphin it will hook up just fine after pressing 'pair up' and 1+2.

Though, if you remove device from MS bluetooth devices, and re-add it, it will auto-recognise instantly in dolphin when clicking on wiimote icon.

1st try (no difference whether it's already in MS devices or not):

2nd try after restarting dolphin:

Not a major problem but just extremely irritating.

You can work around that, by enabling your bluetooth radio not until you started dolphin.exe. Usually that does the trick for me.
Means: start dolphin, go into wiimote/plugin, enable your bluetooth radio, press 1+2, pres the pair up button, et voila. (no need to remove the old driver manually)
And if you disable the "Windows Update Service" you will get a significant decrease in required pairup time within dolphin.
