That would horrible. Game addicts will literally be unable to tell the real world and virtual world apart.

The effect im talking about is called "uncanny valley". You can read alot more about that on wikipedia. shoudl explain it to you Wink

Just take a look at the Final Fantasy Movie or the movie "Polar Express". You can see the effect there.
This is also the reason why Pixar doesn't really like to make movies with humans.

a yes, but its not really what i meant (not the whole psychological stuff behind it; very interesting tho)
what i meant that we are indeed going away from real life graphics by trying to make real life graphics and that you will ALWAYS now the difference if you are a human that doesn't have any disabilities to not understand the difference. my mom always says "wow, that looks real" while i will always be able to know if its real life capture or a video game made of models and textures
not cause im playing a game
but because of how it looks. silly humans don't understand shit of what they want

Graphics isn't the problem - the animation is. You can instantly see when a character is moving in a "wooden" way or if the expressions on the face look like they're made of solid plastic or whatever. Getting computer animated characters to react realistically to things happening around them isn't gonna happen anytime soon.

Not to talk about particle physics, a simple table would need a lot of points for collision, for destruction (generating chunks in the moment, not premade), weight...
In order to achieve that in a city sized map, an insanely great processing power would be required, talk about quantic processors.
But lol, of course, if you want real life graphics, you are going to have to emulate real life physics, and I doubt someone will be able to emulate every single atom.
