Dunno if you can connect a DVD drive to it (through USB maybe) but it can do 1080p video with XBMC. At least, that's what I've heard (and seen in Linux Format magazine).
I'm pretty sure that it's possible to program a driver for it, since it's linux ,but i can't do that Big Grin

Nah, like most overhyped technology it's already been obsolete for 2 or 3 years.

Ah? So there's a better product available for a comparable price? I'd be interested in that, can you tell me?

I've had an RPi sitting on my desk for a little over a month... Didn't do much yet with it except install the Debian Squeeze image and an eggdrop. I wanted to use mine as a platform for testing dev stuff that will eventually run on a higher powered ARM/OpenGL ES device. It's pretty under powered though - I'm sure it can handle emulating some real older systems, but probably not much more than that.

Well, like I said, the X Window System isn't hardware accelerated, running any sort of GUI is going to drain performance until some of the rendering is done on the GPU. That's exactly why I'm going to run it headless while I set SDL's video driver to fbcon, which Mednafen will in turn use.

Until normal windows can utilize the GPU, it's probably best to develop for the RPi like you would an embedded device, e.g. reducing your resources whenever you can. There's no need to have a window manager for games when the games themselves can just draw to the framebuffer, though for other apps, you'll have to get creative and make your own interface.

I've been meaning to get one of these since they were announced. However I don't really have a use for it. By the way, there are at least three threads which the Pi has taken over, so did we need a new one?
OS: Windows 10 64 bit Professional
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5900X
RAM: 16GB
GPU: Radeon Vega 56

Err... Where are they? Didn't see any dedicated threads about it, just brief mentionings in other threads. Besides, the topic is about my Raspberry Pi, not any of yours :p

I actually haven't even started working on all of the cool software I said I wanted (the game log, game library/emu-launcher, but that's what the entire weekend if for. Guess I should also go to the store and buy myself a decent SD card (the only two I have are being used by my camera and the Wii).
