And even then, the developers do not deserve to lose their jobs. No one does actually. Someone needs to kill EA then.

It depends on how you did it. AFAIK Luma + b9s (or the old a9lh) means the firmware is patched at runtime, so you can update to newer versions without any risk...
Avell A70 MOB: Core i7-11800H, GeForce RTX 3060, 16 GB DDR4-3200, Windows 11 (Insider Preview)

11.8 did manage to break luma temporarily. B9S was still installed so you just had to wait for a luma update.

If you have b9s it's impossible to "break" or "remove" the firmware (unless you do something really stupid, but you'd have to really try hard). The only possible fix is a hardware revision, which likely will never happen.
Anyone else having a blast with CrossCode?
Yeah, I would rate it to be on par with Chrono Trigger. The game it not entirely perfect, but man does it get close to that. I would live to see some interface improvements such as being able to see which rooms in dungeons still have treasures. I can find myself a few times too many wandering around aimlessly searching for the next key treasure. A cursor pointer indication your exact position on the map would be helpful too, makes it easier to place a stamp on your current position. I would rather want too see automatic stamps for each treasure you notice. I really do recommend CrossCode if you are a fan of action-RPG titles. There is no turn-based combat, but rather real-time. Of course the story is exceptional as well and brilliantly written. The game reminds me of a mix between the 2D Zelda titles and the Ys series.
Yeah it has been a while since there was an indie game that great. Not only is it a great indie title, but one of the best titles of 2018 overall.
The last time an indie title blew me away would have been Undertale in 2015. I tried some other indie titles such as Owlboy, Hyper Light Drifter and Iconoclasts. Not entirely bad... But these titles don't matter in the slightest when compared to CrossCode. At least CrossCode isn't as disappointing as the Seal the Deal DLC for a Hat in Time was. I mean, I really love A Hat in Time and it was almost perfect for me. Everyone who loves Banjo-Kazooie and Super Mario 64 should love A Hat in Time. It just lacked some extra worlds with there were only four in total. With only 40 hourglasses to collect (compared to the 100 Jiggies, 200 Golden Bananas or 120 Power Stars), well... Yeah... The game was over before you knew it. So... When a DLC was announced, how could they possible go wrong? Add in some new worlds / chapters and I am satisfied. Sadly just about everything went wrong there. Only the free co-op DLC is a real improvement. The new chapter is way too short and unpolished with only three main acts and two time rift acts (where prior worlds have at least 8 acts if not more), with the second main act being pure frustration because you have to navigate a ship on multiple timers doing deliveries. The new Death Wish Mode is just pure evil and makes you long for death as the name implies. The difficulty is just too cruel compared to the relaxed and easygoing nature of the base game. Why the sudden change of your usergroup? It basically became the Dark Souls of platformers. If that was not enough, most of the missions in Death Wish are being copied over. I saw at least one act from the base game being re-used three times with slightly different goals under extreme conditions such as not doing jumps, which should not exist in a platformer where jumping is a key ability. Then... All the new cosmetic rewards are being locked behind the new Death Wish rather than adding them to the already-existing in-game vendors or reward systems. There is an easy mode you can activate... But you have to die at least three times, pay a relative small amount of Pons (your coins) and watch this tedious and humiliating scene (although it has this groovy dance being accompanied by one of the best music tracks). Even worse are the missions where you are being locked out from retrying after three tries for at least five minutes. It is a PC / Console game for crying out loud, not a mobile game. Why can't I just pick easy mode immediately from the start without having to die first? Why does it take so long to pick easy mode? Why isn't easy mode the standard difficulty? Why is easy mode so incredible easy for some acts is basically becomes baby mode? Why does easy mode not make the act easier? Why couldn't there be a New Game Plus where all acts where being remixed with new elements? Why does co-op not work in the new Death Wish mode? Why do the dyes not work for the co-op character? Why aren't there any Pons to pick up in certain acts to revive your co-op buddy (you have to collect 10 coins for a revival, which are plenty of in most acts)? Why couldn't the new chapter be longer (just reuse the ship for some extra objectives... I dunno, perhaps add a race, a boss or go repair the engine room)? Why does this DLC suck so much? I also find it annoying that the new chamber where the new chapter can be accessed is being separated from the main hub through a teleporter, it kinda breaks the immersion for me. It is also a bit annoying that the new chapter comes after the game's finale, I rather have all the chapters prior to the finale (since you basically completed the game after the finale, leaving you with fewer reasons to continue, at least story-wise). It should have been cooked a bit longer in the oven. The biggest offensive is that the DLC lost a lot of it's charm, which the base game was well known for. At least the seals are charming. Ok... I am done ranting... Hopefully Gears for Breakfast starts fixing their DLC... Or at least make up for it with their second DLC. Those were part of their kickstarter promise. But I suppose they wanted to wrap up their project fast now that they are halfway. Which is a shame, since the base was really really good. Yooka-Laylee through was a complete disaster... Sigh... I will have to accept that the Collect-A-Thon Platformer genre is dead for quite some time. The days of glory back on the Nintendo 64... At least CrossCode did not disappoint me in the slightest.
I haven't played Super Mario Odyssey... yet... Hopefully someday I will.
Ori and the Blind Forest was actually pretty great. One of the fewer games I had played where I really wanted to play it on Hard Difficulty (through the one-hit-die-difficulty was too much for me). The Definitive Edition was meh. Luckily the Definitive Edition did not detract anything from the original experience, it just added a few more areas, I think two more skills and some new talents. There was also a bit more backstory but that was rather boring unlike the original story which was quite emotional. I am really looking forward to the sequel. I would love to try Hollow Knight, but I fear it is a bit too much Dark Souls for me... The Dark Souls difficulty genre is way too punishing and bad for my health. 09-30-2018, 04:46 PM
