We were issued a mandatory evactuation order Wednesday night. Got out Thursday morning at 5 a.m. It was a 19 hour to drive to helen GA (normally 11 hours) due to slow traffic all the way from naples, fl to atlanta, ga. Every gas station, rest stop, fast food resteraunt, etc. was backed up with lines and people parking where they shouldn't be to try to get in. This is state wide. Most of the gas stations in south florida are out of gas but central/north florida are still ok. By midnight I was beginning to see people pulling off the road to sleep in their cars. Spoke to my friends this morning that tried to leave. It's even worse. Now it's total gridlock all the way through Florida on all major highways. It's taking 5 hours to drive distances that normally take 30 minutes. Despite the mandatory evactuation at this point if you're still in south FL you can't leave due to the gridlock. We have millions of people trying to get out now through the only 2 availible roads (I-75 and I-95). Our infrastructure just wasn't built to accomodate this kind of sudden mass exodus. I wish everyone still in Florida good luck. In Andrews we were without power or running water for 3 weeks and that hit us as a cat 5. This will be a cat 4 by the time it hits FL and our infrastructure is in better shape then it was back then so it likely won't be as bad. I wager south Florida will be without power or running water in most places for about a week this time.

Stay safe NaturalViolence. Glad you got out in time.
This hurricane is nuts. It's basically a storm the size of Texas. That's usually something out of sci-fi movies, but not today. Hoping any other people from the Dolphin Forums are safe and sound no matter where they are. 09-09-2017, 02:01 PM
Family and I made it to Memphis, TN to meet up with some other family members. What should have been a 12 hour trip turned into a 20 hour drive. We tried to stay off the most popular highways and take the single lane state high ways, they were less gridlocked than I-95, but still pretty bad at parts.
It's quite possible we passed each other size comparison of Andrew vs Irma:
What are you talking about ? The earth is fine right ? That's why Trump threw away Paris Agreement right ?
Joke aside, I hope everyone here is fine.
From France with love.

Flooding will be worse than Andrew due to the size but windspeeds won't be as bad an Andrew. Andrew f**king leveled homestead to the ground, that was crazy.

So... Did no one realize flog spelled backwards was golf? I feel like an idiot. We've known this for months. *facepalm*
