Why's Reddit blown up with turkeys today, then? Surely the shooting down of a single Russian jet is not enough to justify eating thousands of flightless birds?

So what's up with this new shitty Windows 10 update? Took 30 minutes to install, had to repermission all programs to access the Internet, and Dolphin GameCube controller driver is no longer working. And this new system of "it will be installed in 10 minutes, motherfucker" isn't making it any better...

If you're talking of the 1511 update, well, actually it's a full system upgrade, it'll install the new OS version from zero then migrate the stuff you had in the previous install (and that previous install will be moved to Windows.old, as usual). Think of Windows 7/8.1 => Windows 10, but this time is actually Windows 10 => Windows 10 Update 1...

The removal of permissions was a bug, they pulled the update and reinstated it with it fixed.

While for most users this made no difference, for those who'd disabled those features previously, the upgrade would silently revert those choices. does idling the CPU at 2.0ghz and turboing it to 4.4ghz sound fine? My first time with any sort of throttling tech in a CPU and I'm just getting into actually using it now.
EDIT: stock clock is 4.0, 4.4 is the highest safe I've gotten to I've read that AMD turbo core (relevant to my CPU) turns off cores that are under light load so this might not be a great idea

The CPU should already be idling pretty low if that is what you are trying to do (it doesn't always run at 4 GHz).

It's been rough since my father passed away last month but I'm finding being here for/with my mother and sister, talking and keeping busy is helping me cope. I still feel the pain, emptiness and not a day goes by that I don't miss my father, his humor and yearn to see him again..
Considering my father was the source of income and designated driver I've made sacrifices and have stepped up to help out mom and sis. I've moved back in with my mother, sister and am assisting with house/yard work, helping with groceries, misc. supplies and finances. Next month I'm taking the written test for my permit so I can learn how to drive. We live rurally/semi-rurally, there's no buses this way and cabs cost $25 one way to the city or $50 round trip per trip. We want to stay out here however at least one of us needs to be able to drive. I will be working towards my license to assist my mom and sister with transportation and drive to where I need to. My fathers car will be passed down to me but it needs some repairs before it's road ready. I don't even know yet if I can register and insure a vehicle with just a learner's permit and if not that will complicate matters. Finding a licensed driver who is willing to teach me how to drive and monitor me while driving is going to be difficult enough. When I obtain my license I plan on enrolling in an automotive repair course at a vocational school or seeking employment somewhere. Myself, my mother and sister are considering going back to working out at the YMCA as we are all concerned about our health now. So I've been very very busy and I haven't touched on everything going on.. |
