Get in touch with the transgender support service in your city. Even if you can't physically visit them, you may be able to contact people who specifically know how to deal with situations such as yours. Even if it's by phone, email, or smoke signal, talk to someone who can offer better advice than some random internet admin (i.e. me).

@kin: I wish there was something I could do to help. But I myself am not even 16 yet, and thankfully I haven't had to deal with anything nearly as bad as your current situation. So I cannot really do more than wish you good luck, and, well... I was never good at writing stuff like that, so yeah, I wish you all the best and hope you can get through that and into a normal, stable life as quickly as possible.

Religious reasons aside, No, i think there's more to it than that. The bible doesn't even really say much about trans issues. I think the issue is simply that people don't understand it at all, and they fear/hate what they don't understand. Quote:There are places in my city for trans people in situations like mine, but they are on the other side of the city and I have no way to get over to the other side of the city.I don't know the full deph of the situation, but please don't let something like this stop you if it really is that bad and you need to go. If it's really too far to walk, take a bus, train, or hitch hike, if you have to. If you can't afford a bus, i'm sure we can raise a few dollars to get you there. You absolutely have options here. I doubt any of them are good, but if it is as bad as it seems to me, you need to get out, asap. Quote:Oh, wait, yes I can put it on the cloud. Will need to find a service that allows up to 200GB of space and allows uploading of copyrighted files (don't worry, I'm not a pirate, it'd just look like that if I uploaded these on mega), though.Upload it to 20 different places if you have to. Please don't think you don't have any options, because you definitely do, and a lot of people would be willing you help you, you just need to ask. I'm genuinely curious, since I don't have any trans friends nor am I trans. I would think that it wouldn't affect you in your day-to-day learning? For medical reasons a school needs to keep a record of what you are biologically, in case of medical emergency and whatnot. What I identify as never came up in anything that I ever did in regards to the school.Well, just think about how it would feel if someone forced you to go to school as a girl. It would absolutely affect her learning, and just her general well being. 11-03-2014, 09:37 AM
It's not quite a situation of immediate danger (other than my brother, but I have the strength and resources to defend myself against him, even if I know that my mother would call the police on me for defending myself if he did come at me), I am safe enough that I can look for a job and continue living here for a few days once I have a job, but as soon as I have a job I need to find a way out until I can afford a home. I know I may potentially have an interview for a job I've wanted for years soon-ish, so if I can get that job, I'm pretty much set, and just need to find a place to stay while working so that I don't have to deal with my family tampering with my stuff while I'm out.

Especially if you haven't gotten a paycheck yet and need to put down a deposit on a place to live.

I asked because all I can imagine is having to dress as a girl, using the women's bathroom, and being referred to with female pronouns against my wishes. I'm pretty laid back and feel like I would be able to adapt to it after awhile, but since I'm not kinkinkijkin, I was asking about how that would affect her. 11-03-2014, 11:46 AM
With gender dysphoria, being treated at any point in time as a gender you do not identify as can really hurt, and start thoughts like "I will never be a real woman/man" or "I am a worthless boy/girl trying to pretend to be something they are not", and it tends to be worse when you're forced to dress and act like your assigned gender.

@KHg8m3r - It's pretty hard to explain in words, I guess. Imagine if you honestly, 100% believed you were trapped in "the wrong body" and were forced to deal with the body for the rest of your life. That is to say, imagine you had the body of a woman (put away those dirty thoughts) but you absolutely felt you were supposed to be a man, and no one listens to you or takes you seriously (an in fact chastise you for your delusions). Think Freaky Friday, but for the rest of forever.

Would the school and the other pupils actually do anything? I'd've thought that everyone would just switch to the preferred pronoun as soon as they found out if they didn't know you as the other gender first. Maybe I've just spent too much time around nice people.

Thanks for clearing that up kinkinkijkin and Shounumi. That sheds a lot of light being trans and being called by the gender you don't identify with.
If the people who hate/fear trans understood those concepts, like actually sat down and tried to visualize that and see how it would be, then they could get along with transgenders instead of hating on them and making them feel bad. Sorry AnyOldName3, but a lot of the people in the world either don't care, don't understand, or would continue calling them the wrong gender to hurt them. |
