I would feel very bad asking for something so expensive. They would probably buy it for me, they're that generous. First world problems I guess. I try pretty hard to earn things in life and so I have a tendency to turn anyone down that offers to give things to me. That's just how I am.

Listen to what you're proposing. A sheet of material that acts as a light polarity filter and can instantly switch between two different very specific material properties. That's some pretty advanced physics/chemistry. As far as I know scientists haven't been able to produce anything like this yet.
