Wow, the steam streaming beta works really well. I'm getting great performance. Now if they would let us do it from anywhere.

There's always controversy. In other news, I told a co-worker about my emu-console setup, and he called it a "retro Steam Box", which is interesting because I never saw it that way, but it makes sense. They're both "console" like PCs that take gaming from my regular PC to the living room. Replayed Metroid Fusion over the weekend on it which was great since I haven't played it in almost 7 years or something insane like that. I completely forgot some really cool parts of the game. Speaking of streaming, I always wondered how an X-forwarding SSH session of Dolphin on my main PC would work on my emu-console. Dunno how sound would work (probably not at all, or not easily, I'll just use really long earbuds) but it would be a nice weekend experiment. 02-04-2014, 06:56 PM

I think I read somewhere that pulseaudio somehow can be made to work in conjunction with X-forwarding, but I never managed to get it to work myself. 02-04-2014, 07:06 PM
I'd rather have "Warez tools" than having to do 5000 steps just to play a single gamecube game on my WiiU.

Because pre-processing the ISO with other tools, acquiring third-party USB controllers and hand-editing .ini files that don't have a properly defined format doesn't count as "steps"?
Turning on a wiimote and inserting a disc, ohnoes so much effort. I'd rather just accept not having any sound than resort to PA. Apparently it's possible to set up arecord on the host to pipe binary output over SSH, which is then played by aplay on the client. Another simultaneous SSH session would probably have to be used for Dolphin. Sounds doable though. |
